Several employees have received an email stating they have been furloughed indefinitely. Does anyone know how many ?

Is furlough a way to force you to leave without giving you severance? That sounds awfully cruel
I got the email a few days ago. It was a surprise. Dont know what to think of it but I am no longer being paid.
They are using the Covid 19 threat to loose additional employees and staff. Looks like it has been both on the health and pharmacy sides.
Frtlough is, in theory, temporary. You can apply for unemployment but should be aware of the state laws. Apply for the covid version (ma has that option) if that's why you were furloughed.
The people so far are furloughed with nothing. Just their next upcoming pay nothing else. Some are getting phone calls rather than emails.
How does being furloughed
differ from laid off? Looking online, they refer to furloughed as forced leave of absence, often with continued access to health insurance. I’m guessing that leads to you finding a new job, resigning from DST, and probably losing any severance package (if it still exists). Anyone know for sure?
I only know of one in Quincy and that's only because she sent a text yesterday to let me know she was let go, but at least she received a phone call instead of an email.
Its true. So sad for the employees that have received the email. Like others have posted here, there are not many of us left to be furloughed indefinitely.
