Insider sources regarding IBM

Every IT job in Mason, Indy, and Richmond will be moving too IBM. There will be some impact within Atlanta (and digital as well).

Sources say many directors and managers are shocked as this was a total blindsight.

Start looking for jobs folks, you have till the end of July. Don’t stick around for transitioning your work. Just jump the ship.

And these are reliable insider sources...coming from someone at the SVP level.

Hey, "old dog can't learn new tricks:" I am 57 years old, started a master's degree a year ago and have a 4.0. Wanted to take my career in a related but different direction and found a great job somewhere else and left Anthem even though my master's is still in progress. I am doing great and am highly valued. Now I don't work 70-hour weeks only to go to Gloria's meetings so she can tell us all she is going to start expecting more from us. She has no earthly idea what she is talking about: that is the REAL problem.

@byiv+14W4vo4w this has been happening since 2019. I, and others, over 50, were part of the May & June RIF, despite there being plenty of work (but apparently no funding for anything). It was a good time to go as things were getting really strange.

Does anybody know if there are. going to be layoffs in Denver this year? Specifically the government business division? There has been talk for the last year about making as many things automated with AI as possible,

Re: Old dog can’t learn new tricks. False. It’s the individual who chooses to be a lifelong learner and push themselves to embrace new technology and ideas. As a now 60+ I have been surprised at lack of technology understanding from individuals 30 years younger. For those who were open, I’ve always been happy to share info. At the same time despite years in my field, I readily acknowledge that I do learn from people new in our field.

Get a package, and start to look for a new job to work in competitors like United Healthcare, Aetna, Humman, etc.
IBM has cloud, nobody uses it. IBM provide AWS/Azure/GCP cloud service, why simply just go to AWS/Azure/GCP for service as they know more about their products. I addition, IBM service is not cheap.

Project Cirrus - As they have named it, contains mostly peripheral and infra services. Not every IT job is going to go to IBM. IBM would manage the infra part. Already IBM has been handling the Release management to some extent and into publications.

@1uin+14W4vo4w You're absolutely right! And we all know Anthem leadership is totally 100% honest with their workforce and would never ever dream of lying through their weasel teeth at a town hall meeting! Especially when it's about outsourcing and offshoring, the two subjects about which they are always extremely transparent and forthcoming! Just like when they tell their disposable workers to relocate to a hub office and then lay them off after they've trained their cheap foreign replacements!

Every job In IT? The town hall was clear it was just 3 impacted domains. What about Digital and EDA? People were told by those SVPs that Digital and EDA not impacted.
