Unleavable.. Giant Eagle made sure every news outlet was aware of the bonus money they would be paying out to it's employees and the day before checks are to be issued a large portion of employees are finding out the bonus money will not be in May 14th check. Another screw up in the payroll department. Just like when a new contract is signed and employees earn backpay and they screw that up. How is this possible? When you over 20 Vice Presidents in your company someone should make sure this does not happen. It's almost like they realized if they keep the money in the bank another week they will get more interests on the money.. Hopefully Giant Eagle will notify the news outlets of the screw up...

I got my hazard pay, same thing wrapped up in one paycheck, taxed to the moon and back! A giant-eagle giftcard would've been better, they'd get the money right back!
They don't have enough employees in the stores, but too many pencil pushers and policing supervisors! That's why customer service is poor!
I did receive my bonus. Sadly, the company thought it best to add it into my regular check and then tax it 29%. So, at 40 hours a week, after taxes I found out through giant eagle that my health is worth approximately 150 dollars for the month. We are not "essential" we are "expendable".
Guys, you’re talking about a grocery store who can’t even rank well in customer service against stores who don’t even invest in it!!!
Small format stores like aldi don’t hire many employees to stay lean - yet it beats us in customer service.
Their fortunes have relied heavily on fuel/GetGo for quite a while. I don't know if they anticipated the drastic loss of that revenue. While grocery sales have been good, there is no way they made up for the loss in fuel sales.
I'll be shocked if there aren't layoffs in the next three to six months.
Perhaps this has something to do with the massive financial hit the company just took in period 10, despite hitting record sales due to Covid-19. How can retail stores earn so much of the company’s profit for a change, only to loose it after rolling up into the company’s P&L. Clearly some executive has squandered resulting in a massive hit in P10.
To the commenter mentioning layoffs, well, get ready soon my friend. With the considerable loss last period, they are on their way.
Your surprised that Giant Eagle screwed up? HaHaHaHaHa.. Apparently the Vice President of Payroll lives on the west coast and had trouble getting a flight to Pittsburgh to oversee the Bonus Payout... But some GOOD NEWS is about to be announced. The Vice President of the "Vision Dept" is about to announce Vision 2030. That's right. With the increase in business due to the Covid-19 Giant Eagle is setting its sights on 30 billion by 2030.
To the person who responded... perhaps if you’d pay your employees a livable wage, they wouldn’t be so dependent on this bonus payment. Just a thought.

I could have sworn this forum was for talking about layoffs, not a minor payroll glitch that caused you to have a slight delay in a bonus payment.
