Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Humana and its ongoing medicare mission to roll senior citizens out of their incomes

Here is a complaint that I received from one medicare member, as follows: "Humana * Premier RX doubled my and my husband's pr-scrip-ion plan for the year 2020 monthly costs without our permission. They "automatically" enrolled us in a new more expensive plan during the Medicare Enrollment period, without our consent. Apparently, it was up to my huisband and me to notice that our rates were being doubled and opt to not enroll in this plan. We had NO information by email or regular mail letting us know that we would be automatically enrolled in this new expensive plan, This is shady, unethical, and an underhanded way to extort money from unknowing senior citizens." Rolling our nation's most vulnerable population in the name of providing 'healthcare' is simply pathetic. This company has everyone snowed.

Bottom line, Humana spends a fortune on marketing and advertising aimed at the medicare age population. They have shifted their business plan predominately to the medicare arena. In no way, do they attempt to attract the younger population in this fashion. It only stands to reason that there is some economic incentive for them to do this. Is it federal funding or the ease with which they can cut into a members social security - or some other equally attractive financial end? Or are these companies simply trying to help seniors knowing that they will sleep better at the end of the day? In general, Medicare supplement plans work for healthy individuals. Should the member contract a serious or lengthy illness the cost of out of pocket, co pays - combined with the fact that many procedures are denied under the overly broad category 'not medically necessary' determination - make these policies more aggravating than they are worth. Anyone, considering signing up for a medicare supplement plan should read the fine print carefully.

I am mortified at the responses here. Humana pulled the old "bait and switch" on the seniors and they "trusted" Humana blindly. Shame on you. You should have checked to make sure Humana wasn't robbing you. It's your fault, dummy. What kind of rationale is this?

Sad but true, the first group to be targeted in any scam operation are seniors. Statistics will bear this out. Medicare Advantage is just another scam operation masquerading as health insurance. The callousness expressed by the below posters suggesting that seniors need to stop acting 'special' and need to take 'responsibility' for deliberate and deceptive marketing practices is ludicrous. These people are targeted and misled by Humana sales personnel. Attempting to hold them responsible for intentionally non transparent marketing tactics is a prime example of deluded thought. No doubt these posters will be stuck in low level management positions until they are either out sourced or no longer required.

I sleep great at night. I don’t talk out both sides of my mouth either. The fact is that people don’t take responsibility for their own actions. Your cable bill goes up because you missed your time frame to negotiate per your contract- That is your fault , not the cable company. Same situation- you did not follow up on your policy in fall - you assumed that it was the same- that is not HUMANAs fault. That is on you- remember assume makes an a– out of you and me! . Majority of seniors don’t need to be babysat and have their hands held. Some people truly do and Humana has a whole call center available to help those people. But the member has to make the call. But to blame someone for something that is because of your own error is childish. People need to have a lot more personal responsibility. You are not entitled to anything , regardless or age, race, economic status etc. I don’t care if you are 80 or 8- take responsibility for you actions (or lack of action in this case)

Humana has, by their choice, launched itself ,almost exclusively, into the medicare racket to roll seniors out of their soc sec incomes - like taking candy from a baby. why not - every one does it. Seniors are easy marks. This is where the bulk of Humana business and 'success' is concentrated. Medicare 'take advantage' is their niche product. Helping other countries?? How is Humana helping with that?? Only assistance they are providing other countries is by offshoring our jobs to other countries. for those who continue to find some deluded rationale to take pride in this work and this company - please continue on path. You are exactly the compliant type Humana is looking for and will be going nowhere soon.

I have to agree with the commenter. The entitlement mentality and lack of personal responsibility gets old.

Maybe pay attention? And take responsibility for the fact you didn’t do the research you should have? It is basic to re-evaluate the insurance every year. Your a senior- be an adult and don’t blame a company because you didn’t do your due diligence. Seriously take some responsibility and quit acting like you are special because your a senior. Your old enough to know better.
