Does this job even help Seagate or weigh it down? What are some examples of how business excellence makes you get better or makes Seagate worse? I don't like how they're in charge of all the layoffs, that should be manager discretion.

SVP of BE is incompetent and spends all of her time trying to manage up to hide this fact. You cannot trust her and she is vicious. She is the token protected class on Sr. team, thus cannot be touched.

She's not going to retire. She will haunt the halls of Seagate like Al forever.
She knows she is incompetent in this role and just trying to get a few more years so she can retire from the only company she ever worked. Think about how crazy this sounds. Who works at one company their entire career!
Why does CEO keep her and this dept around? Big cuts have to happen if we are going to keep paying the dividend.

Biting the hand does not mean we should not be looking to eliminate waste in the business. This thread is all about waste in the business. Ops taught me continuous improvement. I deserve a six sigma black belt for this obvious waste reduction.
Why are you biting the hand which has provided secure employment for years if its that's bad why has this company been so successful. Leadership is not easy.

My last company had something similar in operations but they knew the business so well and across the globe. This Excellence group offers none of this and will only create a process map for you without understanding the business or improvement opportunity and write a speech if you are the CEO. No value.

The fact is she is rude, wasteful and doesn't bring anything to the company. Think of her as a car mechanic who pretends to fix your car that is not broken, but during that process actually breaks the car.
Regardless of who it is we have been cutting employees non stop for the last 7 or so years and we have groups like business excellence that offer no value to the struggling business but cost tens of millions of dollars. What are we doing? So frustrating.

At least she can sleep at night, knowing she did right by day, pushing people off the plank, earning her modest pay (7 figs, with stock). Not a lot of people realize that shoving people out the door can really make you work up a sweat. It's an aerobic workout.

How long before she reads these unflattering posts, and gets her hair stylist to call her driver to call her lawn waterer to call her lobsterist to call Seagate lawyers, to remove the posts? Did I miss a layer?
It’s not a position or group found in typical modern corporations. Definitely unusual.
All the best people in that group left and that should tell you a lot. BE is the creation of an incompetent CEO without a vision for a successful company and put his long term lapdog in charge of it.
I worked closely with this group for a few years and this is a group only found in old tech companies that rely on command and control, wasteful micro management. Time for this group to be put out to pasture. This group must have a budget of $20 to 30M. Investors should be screaming about this nonsense.
Worthless position, complete waste of money. She has a ghost writer, a hair stylist, her own driver, and once ordered lobster for herself to eat while her direct staff watched hungry.
I have never seen a more ridiculous self -serving organization. Almost all of the employees are new hires and know nothing about Seagate processes. All of the work of people writing down their processes, process mapping and videos was meant to identify redundancies and determine your own demise. Absolutely none of it improves customer relationships, improves market share, or enhances product design.
They can also order promos. Be excellent to each other. Party on dudes
