Thread regarding Bass Pro Shops layoffs

Layoff

They are laying off all leads and assist Myers and full timers!! We just got word from HO and they can’t pay insurance. They are getting rid of excessive HR personnel, inventory shipment members and office workers.
It does seem fair as we have seen this coming

I would think the one that gets paid the most would be the first to go.

Rumors very true.
Rankings of employees are company directive for firing.

Cut payroll, fire people who know anything about hinting, fishing, or camping. Get a bunch of cheap managers who are obedient. Pay minimum wage to the low ranks and who cares if they can help customers or not. Fire them and hire new mo–ns. Stock items customers don’t want. Don’t buy items they do want. Ship in cheap c-ap from China and watch it sit on the shelf for months and then discount it to just above cost and hope it sells. Push longtime loyal customers away with c-appy customer service and employees with zero product knowledge. Only run tv ads for Chinese shirts and socks. Make sure customers can’t get any help because there aren’t enough employees around to help them. Make the store look spotless and keep it clean by making sure no customers come in to dirty it up. Stock things that customers can buy on Amazon for half the price with better quality. Push a credit card that has worse benefits than your local bank’s. Make one manager run three departments for the same pay. Wonder why your former customers hate you and never come back. Act smug while the company crumbles beneath you while you keep your corporate position you don’t deserve. Pat each other on the back for a job well done.

Should be easy since they furloughed some Outfitters for the wrong reasons. Some jumped ship and went to get other jobs. I love how they are doing so many things for employees that are still working, but the message I am hearing to furloughed workers “You are just skunks.” Maybe, if they are smart they should appreciate the furloughs a whole lot more for not giving up. They better get them called back soon before more of them jump ship.

It’s happening, end of June
Wait for it....
Each store is different of course but every store will lose some
Skeleton crew is an understatement Customer service will go down the drain, the lines to check out are getting ridiculous and we will have Walmart customer service before it’s over with
just like this company is trying to turn into a Walmart ran business

Yeah I wonder what they’re looking at. We have been completely open the whole time and have blown away plan with half a staff. I don’t see the logic of letting anyone go when we haven’t missed a day.

It must be stores that were over staffed or something. Our store is bringing everyone back from furloughed and no leads, managers, hr, or admin has been laid off. You would think if it’s company wide they would of done it all on the same day like they normally do.

At the end of the day, wake up folks. If they hire new people at low rates, guess what, profit remains. Business is business, it’s not about anyone personal, it’s what they have to do to survive.

Already happening at California stores but it’s a good move for laying off full timers, leads and managers not needed. Anyone can do their job, unfortunately. Why are they supporting race cars ? People that have served this company deserve a lot more

It’s sad to report, but this rumor is true coming from the main store in Mo. None of us want this , but numbers don’t lie, and it is what it is. But, good news for our top managers are good at what they do and will get hired anywhere. It’s sad but we do have our health and that’s important.

I don’t believe any of this nonsense! I don’t know who you are or what store you work in, when things like this happen it comes quick and over. I do believe they need to do more cuts and reorganize titles. Leads are a joke always have been. 3-4 in each department? They way HR is being run by people who shouldn’t be. Managers who stay in there offices instead of bagging or happening out due to the amount of customers verses associates. Outfitter is the most ridiculous title I’ve heard. Outfitter of receiving or apparel or customer service. Time to strap on the boots and get this company back to what it used to be. Before Cabela’s. You can’t have two sets of rules. We have two small Cabela’s in our area. I hear from the customers the difference between the stores. We are one store now and things need to be the same. So it’s up to base camp to grab control. Guys you need to start getting out and talking to the little people who keep the stores going. They are the voice of what really goes on day to day. Not management!!!!!

The link to the credit lowering story is more than 2 months old. But, it does take a lot of money to put your logo on multiple race cars. So guess which is more important, store employees or a good time at the speedway??

I do not see how stores can get rid of the admin. position? Has anyone actually heard they are getting rid of admin specifically?

To top heavy in the first place. Leads are a joke. That position should have been looked at years ago. They don’t work weekends, most work maybe one night a week. They have no say so about most situations, can’t write people up, tell you to call MOD. It’s a glorified position and they take it for all it’s worth. I would love to sit and talk to Johnny one on one about the way our store runs. Sales are in the top 20 and we have a long term relationship with customer’s. Most of our problems are upper management who turn their heads and pretend they don’t see what the problems. Favoritism, and being on the right side of management gets you whatever you want. What’s good for them should be the same for all. Get in these stores and talk to the little people. Knowledge is everything.

I’ve seen the ranking sheet but that’s about it. There have been a lot of closed door conference calls recently but who knows what’s in the air

Hi there? Does anyone know if there is documentation Or an email to back any of this up??

Post ID: @1xlg+14Zlu93i

The ranking is determined based on disciplinary actions in the outfitters files, attendance and performance.

Post ID: @1pim+14Zlu93i

There has been an assignment to rank full time/lead associates recently. I kind of assumed it was leading to something like this.

Post ID: @1ziw+14Zlu93i

My store HR manager has been calling all full time outfitters and letting them know the plans to reopen in the next few weeks. They are asking us if we still plan on coming back. No rumors of anything in my store.

Post ID: @1xrn+14Zlu93i

Unfortunately the rumors are true. The company has decided to cut some full time positions including leads.

I can't imagine how our store would even function if the layoff were coming. All of our employees here are key personnel and wear many hats already. We are working with a skeleton crew as it is. There might be 3 or 4 part timers to even call back. Who knows if they will even come back.
Maybe it's time to look at the under-performing stores and the stores in close proximity of one another that are competing against one another and make cuts there. I just don't see it here.

I’m wondering now that Covid19 seems to be shuffling to the background if some people are looking for new things to complain about or start rumors about. What part of the country is your store and these rumors coming from. Positive attitudes are everything!
