Thread regarding Robert Half International Inc. layoffs

There were major layoffs at Robert Half yesterday

And from what I understand, we are not done yet. If anybody has more info on when the rest will be known, please share! I'm stressing over this enough as it is, I don't need uncertainty added to the mix.

Unbelievable company. Having worked there for 5 years & recently been made redundant I have seen such unprofessionalism. Seems to me that if the face & age doesn't fit your out. I worked hard for the 17 hours a week I did in payroll to meet deadlines for which I reduced hours from 20 as wasn't given extra work after asking for months & yet they keep on the ones that do nothing all day. Sit on their phones & shop online all day. Perhaps I should have stuck to 20 hours & done the same. They reward the consultants with thousands in bonuses & yet the ones that work the hardest get nothing in return. Glad to finally be free but I will miss a few & the candidates. Absolutely disgusted with the lack of contact with my line manager while being furloughed.

Feeling grateful I was forced to quit in September and didn’t have to put up with their garbage “leadership” and company any longer just to be laid off in April. The Manager of RHFA used to tell me I was fat and stupid all day and I still don’t understand why. He would laugh at me but stare at my chest all day. If I didn’t look my best one day he would open his mouth and stare at me in disgust for 5 minutes. I’ve never felt more humiliated and degraded in my life. He’s married and 20 years older than me. He would tell me I needed to work out more and that I would put on weight sitting in a chair all day. Also another man in the office(who sold d–gs to colleagues) got mad because I did not want to “hook up” with him and so he started yelling at me all the time, told everyone I looked hungover, embarrassed me, would give me disgusted faces and then tried sleeping with the rest of the office. My manager did nothing about the disgusting treatment from the company and they allowed it to continue until I quit. I reported this man every day for 9 months and ended up severely depressed. I ended up so stressed and depressed there I would get physically sick every day and throw up in the bathrooms because the treatment was so bad and my stomach was in knots because I was so nervous about what else would be said. I was scared sh–less just to go in the back. My manager actually told me to quit. She would come to work twice a week for part time and spend the time face timing her kids in an interview room and popping benzos at her desk. But she had been there for 20 years. This was after she also told me to send email proof of the abusive behavior and after I did she wrote me up the very next day because the abusive man I reported retaliated. My great uncle died and I was asked if I would be out the whole day at the funeral. I got sick and they wanted to get in contact with my doctors as if they had any right. When I told corporate they “couldn’t do anything because lack of evidence.” Trashy company. People sold d–gs to each other in the branch I worked at and management turned their heads because they were top producers. They treated their staff like sh–. The branch manager told me it would be 3 years until I could do sales. I was told I couldn’t eat at certain times, couldn’t stand at certain times and that I had to sit by the old man that called me fat and stupid all the time. I was so uncomfortable I asked to change desks almost daily and it got so bad I quit without another job lined up. Went 4 months without work after that and the company did nothing. The regional manager used to give me dirty looks and roll her eyes at me and shooed me out of rooms like I was a fly. Heard she was just demoted to a branch manager lol. My manager told people they couldn’t talk to me at work either and anytime someone did she would tell them they had to stop and weren’t allowed and would hold meetings after meetings with colleagues. She also told me I couldn’t attend lunches with my team. Shes a trash bag and the branch was crawling with d–g addicts and abusive men. I hope they don’t recover from this pandemic. The company needs a wake up call. Professional is the last word I would use to describe it. They fired my friend over Skype and then 30 minutes later did a virtual happy hour with the rest. Now last week they fired the majority of the branch and demoted all management(not that they ever were management)

Try being someone placed by RH - I have been left to fend for myself with the client, placed with lots of promises - all a lie - job description wasn't even close to what I am doing - for low pay - no benefits and no chance at perm placement which was also a promise. I am glad I am working but would never take a placement again by a RH recruiter - they don't care about you once they get you in the door - and definitely don't care about you once you have hit six months and they can't make any additional money off you!
I am making them look good but they could CARE LESS. I always had respect for them as a manager that used them to place temps, and now as a person placed...what happened to this company????

I guess I’m a lucky one and haven’t been laid off yet. My office has now had two rounds of layoffs. The fact that we’ve even had layoffs is ridiculous. I get it that RHI is in the business of staffing but damn give the employees who bust our asses everyday more of a fair shot in things turning around. We all have families to support and I can’t believe that a 6+ billion dollar company can’t afford to keep good people around. Our leadership at the top only cares about padding their pockets while they can. No message from senior leadership other than a sh–ty email that goes out every time after the layoffs that the CEO most certainly doesn’t write. For me it’s back to the grind on Monday where I’m sure I’ll hear something about how my numbers are down and I need to bang out 100 calls today. I feel for everyone who has lost their jobs. I’m sure I’ll get laid off as well and I’m sure it will at the end of the day be a weight lifted off my shoulders. RHI leadership if you are reading this.... Work Happy? We aren’t happy, you are doing a pathetic job of leadership.

Let go yesterday in a THIRD round of layoffs. What is funny is that 3 hours prior we were told there would be no more layoffs and that they had to make the cuts to protect “the best people.” My office went from 50+ to 12. 1 recruiter and 1 AE for each LOB. After seeing how they treat employees in times like these I have absolutely no desire to ever work for them again.

In the middle of my workday I got a random Skype call from my manager and immediately knew I was next. It was such a cold and unprofessional call. Manager didn’t care at all and just gave a BS speech about how it’s just business and not personal. If I was anyone in the company, I’d make your exit plan now so you know where to go once the lay off happens. They don’t care about you. Just a number to them and if you don’t produce you’re dead to them. Very unrealistic expectations in a tough market. Get out now!

Always been a terrible company to work for and the recent layoffs just reinforce that fact. At the end of the day, it's a real cut throat chop shop with very little morals and even less values. They promise you the world and then when you get in, you realize it's all a lot of BS. Undertrained employees, old managers, who are out of touch with the current systems, tons of meetings (mostly about meetings), and an atiquated way of doing things. No real ingenuity going on as there is a pervasive stubbornness coming from up top that trickles it's way down to the mid-managers. Saw a lot of hard workers come and go as they were stymied by the predatory culture and lack of forethought the organization promotes. WORK HAPPY...such a joke!

What’s really funny is that RH has asked managers to come into these threads and down vote any critical posts. Furthermore, many who were laid off days after being told their jobs were safe were provided a specific script to post on LinkedIn with the promise that they will get their job back in an effort to control the damage control to their public image.

I can’t wait to watch how much RH suffers as the economy turns around. They’ve p-ss-d lied and p-ss-d off a lot of employees, and have really p-ss-d off a lot of clients. I’ve already been getting calls from RH clients and closing deals left and right. Thank you RH! LOL

25% laid off?!? Hahaha more like 60%!!! Do your homework, the place is garbage. Always has been. It’s literally the laughing stock of the job market.

Haha way more than 172 laid off. One city fired 140 and left 25 people remaining. Pathetic and sad! I heard it was bad but wow, they must have really tanked. No surprise though, everyone knew Waddell was always out to sell the company. So long RH! Don’t let the door hit ya!

We had layoffs today at Robert Half in Toronto, Canada. 172 laid off nationwide. So much for "its time we all work happy". At least Randstad kept its staff but reduced work days to 4 days/week. Hope everybody comes through stronger and better!

I worked there for many years and I’m so happy I’m gone. They had plenty of money to weather the storm if the market bounces back like they claim it will. They’re the most cut throat organization I’ve ever encountered.

I have been with the company for many yrs, in many different offices around US and I choose to stick around because it makes me $. Yet I do have concerns about the current leadership.

The people who survived the first round of layoffs were told to,”put up or shut up”. It’s a dictatorship. All they care about is how to save their executive bonus Golden parachutes. Time to find another job where one is treated like a human and not slave labor.

You have to be on the phone now
you can’t eat now
you can eat during the training
finish your call block before you go to the bathroom
What the F#^^€*!!!

I was laid off from RHT on April 1st. They kept someone who never shows up to work or attend conference calls and never meets GM because he was there longer... they cut the only two females on the team.

They don’t care about you. Leave now if you can.

I am so glad I left RH last year. I feel horrible for all of those affected by the layoffs there. However, this goes to show the greed this $6 billion a year company has. Their biggest concern is to persevere executive compensation and keeping shareholders happy. They have PLENTY of money to weather the storm, take care of their staff, and come out stronger when this is over. Now is the time to double down, support your employees, and use your resources to capture more market share. Drop your markups, preserve client relationships, work with their budgets, and show them you truly are partners to their needs. Instead this greedy company elected to protect executives come and bonuses showing their true colors. Wake up people! I spent 4 years there as a high level VP.

I got laid off today. 25% of the company has as well. The funny part is that our Regional Manager assured everyone that RH has “large cash reserves” and that similar to the 2008 market crash, “this will not affect business”. They knew this was going to happen since Monday and avoided telling anyone until the last second.

It is what it is, but all the BS dialogue during this time was super unnecessary and unprofessional. Everyone could have got a head start on their unemployment with a heads up.
