Glad I left that sh*t bird.
Former SPLS employee. New company now. Executives taking 60% pay cuts. Moving sections of company to 4 day work weeks. Sales protected with new customer offerings and commission incentives. Will reduce 10% if necessary at end of month.
VP only hit 10 percent Salesrep’s who actually drive the business anywhere from 50-100 percent. Other support associates who live paycheck to paycheck impacted more than VPs. Why not surprised. Heartless and they could have paid the associates a little longer instead they just put everyone in harms way over the last few weeks dealing with the public and trying to keep things moving forward.
Furloughed here. We were told about a week before hand that the lying CFO Steve Busberg of USR said all stores could close for three months and we would be ok. We are essentail right?!?!? Such c-ap. And May 4th? Where did they come up with that date? We all need to face facts. Staples will not recover from this and they know it. Sycamore, Sandy Douglass and Mike Motz are only interested in preserving thier bonus/profits and will walk away with millions. If someting like this happening does not teach you that no matter how hard you work for a company you are just a number. This is not a staples thing. this is a corporate thing. Remember that when you are asked to work extra or you are watching some slacker in the office who comes in at 10 and leaves at 4 everyday. You got laid off right beside them.
Why would not bringing back a furloughed employee result in that employee not getting severance?
Does everyone think that they are really bringing back furloughed associates? I would assume they are saving money now and will convert them to layoffs later so they dont have to pay severance.. A furlough can last up to a year at the employers descretion.
How about non furloughed people? I have to ask!
Staples is paying all furloughed associates their bonus in their 4/17 paycheck.
May the 4th be with you. They are either a–holes or clueless to pick that date.
45 days ago they informed the associates who were bonus eligible that the company hit the numbers to qualify. They didn’t disclose the percentage which was different than previous years. We were told last week that the bonus will be delayed until sometime in April.
While all companies and people are struggling, great companies are paying employees throughout the crisis, some are paying bonuses early to assist,
Staples is holding our bonus hostage and now taking advantage of unemployment benefits offered so they are furloughing us.
Staples will never be the company it once was and Tom Stemberg is rolling in his grave.
Damn, my new employer is paying HQ staff below Sr. Director level at 90% + 4hrs of vacation time a week to top us up to 100%. Sr. Director and above get 75% and no top-up, top 3 C-Suite executives are forgoing all salary.
Glad I left
NAD here. Yes, this will be hard but why would exec level not be cut more and they may even still get paid their bonus. That makes ne furious. Come on Sandy!
I pray Staples makes it through this epedemic.
I am not sure where the may 4th date came from. They told me (HQ employee) there is no date in sight. I was the only one from my team to get cut too. Best of luck to all
Home office furloughed, or reduced hours/pay by 60%.
CEO and other Executive offices taking 50% pay cut down to the Vp level.
It s—s, trust me I know, I was impacted too, and have to navigate unemployment. Been with Staples for 18 years, in stores and home office. They are doing this to help keep the company around long enough to survive through this.
Not just retail. Home office associates also furloughed 50% or 100% (no pay) for some. Could be two months or longer. All depending on economy supposedly. VPs should be the ones taking 50% cuts not us underlings!
It's b—s—, was the only one "furloughed" on my team. We are essential to supply chain. This is what happens when you argue with management. Been with the company 18 years.
May 4th is an assessment of the business environment. Not a return date.
Not so nice write up about Staples and OD retail status as essential business...Business Insider
A lot of ppl will be getting furloughed and now because they waited so long ppl are going to struggle to get on unemployment. Great company.
Staples Distribution associates 1 month furlough.
Return May 4....
Even after return, not looking good.
Yes they are furloughed till May 4th.
Did you mean to say “employees?”
