Given the current climate, I'll keep taking the pay checks until the day comes.

bGZ1 - if you have 10-20 years service why would you jump ship given the current climate? Do feel sorry for those who end up with next to nothing :-(

Take it from someone who was let go - as nice as a package might be to have, unless you are in a position to support yourself/family for 6+months, you want to get out on your terms. Not theirs. This is a terrible time to be looking for a new job.

Good luck to all my former brothers and sisters.

What it means is it is time to leave now on your own terms before they fire you. The Sungard ship is a miserable sinking mess, and anyone/everyone who isn't part of the C-suite crew (with exception of a small handful of cronies out in the field) will be fired with no warning. Get out while you can.

Agree... But. I still have not figured out how the SGAS owners make money with this approach.... They have never done a long term growth play, so my guess is there is an asset sell coming soon...

Well, head of SGAS marketing is gone, so that means SGAS will not be developing any new offers. SGAS COO has said that it’s the Unitas way or the highway, which means sales engineering goes to Unitas. No announcement about SGAS ops resources being transferred over to Unitas, so that means Unitas doesn’t need additional head Count outside of any support for heritage SGAS offers (eg co-lo), ops headcount is now largely redundant to Unitas....

All of network goes to unitas, SungardAS handles a couple of products that hang off that network.
