I was there in Memphis a few years ago and saw what FedEx did to over 100 dedicated technical systems programmers who worked on the IBM mainframe. Many had over 20 years of service. They called them into an office, told them that they were fired, a security guard escorted them out of the building without allowing them to return to their desks to get their personal property, security boxed their stuff and shipped to them, and they were told to refill any prescriptions they needed because their medical benefits were cut off at midnight. I was a vendor, not a FedEx employee.

What a bunch of babies on here. Any AF thinks now they are entitled to certain roles/jobs just bc of skin color. Merit doesn’t matter. They want “sameness” and darn it if they don’t get it then of course the -ists start getting thrown around. Do you wonder why other minorities like Indians and Asian are promoted? Could it be, they are talented with lots of skills? SMH
For women and non-whites, please take the stairs to get to your career trajectory. Everyone else please step into the elevator. This is pretty much how the company works and most don’t see it for what it is.
Most that fall under the diversity umbrella allow FedEx to burn up their prime years by entertaining empty promises and falling for up-fakes. This is FedEx’s unwritten retention strategy.
Unless the role is in hr, operations or security you’re wasting hope on this modern day plantation. The cool, high impact spots are reserved for “the special ones” perched high in the caste system.
Place is full of non-thinkers chomping at the bit to do anything the “God Emperors” ask. If you’ve ever been told you are a talent, don’t work for this company. Catfish and tadpoles only.
Fedex is just arrogant with a narcissistic culture. They won the Super Bowl once, in 1965. Today, they’re the worse team in the league but still trying to ride that legacy out.
Fedex is lava not just the leadership team. The company is a house of horrors. Once covid resolves it will return to the corner table Amazon made for them.
FedEx leadership is lava.. unhealthy environment
FedEx is a plantation. Run from this place unless you have the skill of superficiality. Most employees just hang around for the check. Some employees fabricate accomplishments because no one really cares about the company. This is why relationship and illusion is king. Good work just doesn’t matter. It’s about the check and taking credit for someone else’s work so you can get more or bigger checks. That’s the real operating model. As long as its relationship based then no one will hold me accountable and I can keep faking it. Now gimme that 5-star.
Corrupt and racist. The worse part is the lack of leadership. It’s very similar to how the government is handling covid. I wish someone had the courage to expose this place for the cancer it is..
I’m not surprised by anything I hear anymore. We just found out about the RESPONSE program being implemented in the fall. Memphis hub will handle on PO shipments and Indy will handle everything else. We (management) are being told to move all full time employees to a midday shift and put part timers on am part time p1 routes. It also involves stations running multiple sorts. That’s going to be a tough pill to swallow for people that have been here for a long time. Totally different company than what I started with 20 years ago. Sad.
The old man did a lot for the economy by establishing FedEx. Somewhere along the line the company lost its way. Just not the company it was years ago. It’s mostly corrupt and very arrogant. I agree with most of the comments here but don’t expect change anytime soon. It’s a bad place with some dishonest people in all the right places.
Unbelievable FedEx would pursue changing the name of a football team with its horrible record for diversity. Hypocrisy!
A company almost 50 years old, whose global executive leadership team that has had every race represented except African-Americans in the C-Suite (and no one counts the stereotypical HR role in positions of impact), a company that has never resembled its team member makeup when it comes to African-Americans, and to bring it home one who when it decided to promote an African American into a small OpCo leadership role, demoted the position level from SVP to VP, when the prior white female in the same role was an SVP. We won’t mention how your IT senior leadership team has had every race and gender represented over its history, except African Americans (white male, white female, Indian, Asian, Hispanic and it goes on and on). Are you saying that in all of its history, there hasn’t been an opportunity for FedEx to address that in the larger company or IT? Fact check says equality is a word this executive leadership team cannot aptly stand on. You can’t say there hasn’t been qualified talent - that would be untrue. There hasn’t been the courage to do the right thing. Live in truth and stop trying to treat D&I the way you do earnings call in which you are publicly dishonest. D&I really means D&E(xclusion) at FedEx if we focus on practice. Sadly, FedEx is not even trying to do the right thing.
And I was hoping “FedEx Surround” meant Satya was gonna come to FedEx and drain the swamp - - show a lost leadership team the refresh button. Dang it. Turned out to be just vapor ware. 😢
This company injures a ton of people. The posted comments just aren’t surprising. The worker that mocked George Floyd was fired because he touched on FedEx’s brand. They don’t care about people.

One thing is for sure, the company does a great job of fooling the public. How long can they keep up the charade?
One of the most racist places you could possibly work is FedEx. That New Jersey guy who mocked Floyd is the poster child for the personas that sit inside of the company.
Executive leadership is more outraged by the mockery than the Floyd incident itself.
FedEx has systemic issues with race. Great pay for an executive role unless you are a minority. For minorities you get the title but not the money. You can count on one hand the number of minority officers across the entire company. It gets worse when you scan IT. How many minorities have reported into the longest sitting CIO during his entire tenure? It’s bad.
The guy in Jersey was behaving the same way he does at work. The only reason FedEx fired him was because it made the news. Otherwise they would have swept it under the rug. You can injure people all day long at FedEx. Complain and you’re a performance issue. The company’s track record is trash I tell you.
Fedex is to racism what the Catholic Church is to p—hili@.
Certainly relationship oriented. You can see this in all of the extra marital affairs and backstabbing that is happening. 😷
[IT] is interesting area. There was this one officer that announced in writing who they were going to hire before this one job ever posted. Then the officer hired that person over any of the other applicants. Had to be Psychic.
This place is tricky. Don’t be surprised if you come across a sheer lack of human decency. People will steal your work and get awards for it. This approach is supported and people simply don’t care even when they know it’s wrong. Some will lie about accomplishments. Others might violate your rights because they’re jealous or just awful people. You might even find yourself disoriented by the time machine effect (program themes from the past showing up in the future as new ideas). There’s not much leadership so fakers have to recycle stuff from years ago. The behaviors are off the chain. The Wild Wild West out there.
If appreciation is absent, accountability is elusive at best, and there's a weak officer of a boss, you might be stuck in a toxic workplace.
It’s this stupid hillbilly hierarchy jacking everything up around here. The company needs to push all of that old thinking into a sink hole already. It’s 2020... no one wears bell bottoms anymore. Lame.
FedEx is about to undergo a major restructure. Likely, ahead of June’s earnings call.
Its operating model doesn’t support current times. The culture is relationship oriented not value driven making it unable to compete in today’s market. FedEx has its own “religion” that translates to nothing externally. They FedEx size everything changing things like Six Sigma to a proprietary discipline rebranded as qdm.
Its workforce is overly tenured stifling innovation. Mix in a culture of “anything to get a promotion” + a “clique mentality” and you have poor product quality all around. Who wants this Wizard of Oz. Normal stuff for any organization but FedEx has a surplus of each bad behavior category creating a dismal work environment.
Like one officer that encourages everyone’s work to look the same. A Maoist mindset to ensure being outpaced by a performer never happens. Dumb.
There is no accountability or oversight into project completion. Nothing finishes. It’s only declared done after a series of fabricated progress. Do a search on Renewal or TNT integration. Those programs are far from done. FedEx is Rome and Rome is burning.
Fedex is a joke. It’s been bad for a while. More people see it now. That’s all. I u send to sell into this client. Loathed being assigned to them. A few good folks there but my interactions always felt cultish and shady. Management is so sensitive. Everything thing we did or said to help was taken as an insult or a threat to their job. Leaving the church of Scientology would have been a far more friendlier experience than dealing with their dysfunctional chain of command.
Even with WFH it is a righteous sewer. Patients running the asylum in IT. FedEx calls it leadership. Amazon calls it bleeding incompetence. Let’s keep faking it though...
