Everything is wrong here. I have been in retail for 16 years, a manager for 10. I stepped down from my last company for a 40 hr job. I started a week before Black Friday. Coming in as a ds, I was never even shown how to do an invoice. I figured it out...but no organization whatsoever. Meijer has been wooing me but is it worth losing insurance for whatever their time period? And is everyone's stocking crew just putting pallets wherever there is a free space? I have charcoal in nearly every department of the store. And 3 covid cases. Meijer has had. 2 posts on this website since covid started. Thoughts?

I was one of the old DM's laid off in 2018. I was SOOOOOOO Happy.. No longer sick and screwed up sleeping schedules. I feel for you guys. They made this company all socialism. Where you get nothing unless the whole store works together and youll never get 100+ people working together. They set you up for failure. Which gets everyone upset.
As the sales manager said to his sales team, “Don’t worry about the mule going blind, just load the _______ wagon”!
It’s very sad, I’ve shopped at Lowe’s 2948 at least 8 times since early March 2020 and during those times, there has NEVER been a soul at the Millwork Desk, morning, afternoon or evening! Customers wander around looking for help until they find out that a flooring Associate will take care of you at the Millwork Dept......And the lumber area as well! This has been happening for more than 5 years at this store!. It’s Just plain SAD.
This store used to do 40+ million a year and I bet it’s even higher now with Marvin’ s changes and his new ‘push to be better than HD not to mention, the ‘bored Covid19, stay at home, I’m gonna build something people’).
The store is still doing MORE WITH LESS and that puts a BIG STRAIN on the associates who are left ‘covering’ other departments. And these Associates are expected to know everything about anything.
Employees come and go wayyyy. to much. Turnover is extreme but no one cares. The managers and exec’s in NC only care about numbers and dollars, and yes that’s Par for retail sales, but Lowe’s loses so many of their customers every week. Whether it’s to on-line shopping, Home Depot or Ace Hardware, it’s sad and they Just don’t care. I actually loved what I did at Lowe’s and I saw things that sometimes still bother me, but I’m done working for them and with retail period.
It took you 6 months to figure out that Lowe’s is not what it appears to be !!!! It won’t get any better. Start looking for a new job just like every other employee there is always doing!
I wish top stock was the only issue we had to deal with. Lowe's is rapidly becoming a shell of what it once use to be and Marvin and company is driving it full speed over a cliff for the sake of trying to make the average store "appear" to be more profitable while driving stock price. Only problem is what we are starting to see is the house of cards he has assembled start to implode from within.
You think top stock is bad, try selling appliances when it's now common to be out of inventory (at both store and ADC/BDC level) of 70% or more of the items we have on the showroom floor and with ETA's often in excess of a month. Try having a conversation with an irate customer that has been waiting a month or more for their "stock" appliance to be delivered only to have the 3-rd party delivery service damage it due to their negligence and being told they will have to wait for yet another month for a replacement. Sadly all Lowe's management cares about are "numbers" and the average customer experience has fallen off a cliff. I want to hurl every-time I watch one of Marvin's pod cast closings where he recites the company motto which could not be further from what is actually happening under his wrecking ball approach. If I didn't know better I would think he was a plant sent by Home Depot to destroy the company.
Lowe’s is a sh– show for sure. There aren’t enough registers nor employees to handle the amount of customers we are getting. I’m in a state where the unemployed at getting an extra $600.00/week in benefits making it impossible to hire anyone. The five seasonal associates we’ve hired have been those who have never worked before; Lowe’s is their first job. We usually have about 20 hired by now.
Top stock is a mess in my store. Product is supposed to be stored above where it is sold. Not happening at my store. As 6 am gets closer the night crew just starts putting freight up wherever. Once they do that they might as well of tossed it into a black hole.
