I was laid off on 5/14 from corporate and the company made us pay out of our own pocket to ship computers back to the office. Ridiculous. They are literally making people pay $20 to return their equipment. You do not get your severance until they receive the equipment. They have not reimbursed anyone. There was no option to drop off equipment at the office which would have cost nothing. So basically you are paying $20 to get laid off. Not to mention severance was horribly minimal.

What were the terms of the packages? back in the day it used to be 2 weeks for every year. If you were a director or above it was more.
Really? You had to pay to send back the company laptop? I have heard that the severance packages are "lacking" to say the least. So typical of OD. Taking care of themselves with no regard to any loyal employees. I don't now how they ...meaning management - sleep at night. Good luck to you both.
Omg, same here! Except I was charged almost $30 to ship it back!!! I literally told the person at the UPS store that I didn't care if the laptop broke during shipping, but they forced me to pay to package it the right way. And meanwhile, Office Depot has all of our personal belongings locked in the corporate office, with absolutely NO news on when we will be able to get our own stuff back!!!
