for us US dummies, what is Openreach & BT, and how does it relate to Lumen?
Having just been laid off after 40 years ... I have been advised by people in the know that the next big shedding of jobs will be in consumer... They keep these people in the dark as they are not paid well and BT is afraid they will leave the company before BT is ready to kick them out ... BT is an ageist organisation that wants the old timers out
All Openreach offices in the south are to close and the only fibre / Ethernet services will be provided from sites at Cardiff , Leeds and Scotland . Existing staff will be offered redundancies on reduced terms to those previously agreed with the unions.
Sites being reduced with no offices in the south of the country , no opportunities to move so redundancies forthcoming .
200 BT Technology Staff laid off in phased redundancy process BT unwilling to speak to union about plans or location affected
The Canterbury office has had its cafe closed, work going on in the car park for new utilities and planning permission approved online to be changed into 53 flats with builders using our toilets. However staff haven't been told anything.
Not just the South. 21 of 30 Openreach locations are closing with no current information on what that means for people working there.
