I work as a staff member at Bennington College. The college has 675 students and 17 senior staff members all making $180,000 or more a year. The president has a salary of $530,000 a year. During this trying time of Covid the college has decided to lay off not any of the people mentioned above but the cooks, housekeepers and electricians and carpenters that are low wage staff who actually help the students in their day to day lives. This is normal for a for profit buissness to only care about its high paid executives but the college preaches and preaches how much it cares about support staff and it's "inclusive" environment. It is nothing of the sort. People have died here due to the college administration covering up dangerous and illegal behavior for financial gain and the possibility of negative media attention. They pay off the victims of crime so they can pretend to be a safe place. Do not send your children here.

They just announced the school is opening with only 500 students. They need to have 725 to not be in the red financially. This means they are going to eventually end up like Southern Vermont College and close due to declining enrollment. They've already admitted they have 2 classes of Covid so we will see what happens. I but they are still laying off the workers all the while paying the new president more then the last one.
Bennington just announced it would no long contribute to staff 401k.
The above comment is true. I used to work there but left due to the extraordinary level if corruption.
