I've been at JCI less than a year. Yes, what they are saying above is true. Managers are administrators, pushing old antiquated products and 1950s management style. No innovation, no leadership although they pretend otherwise. They keep people that have spent their entire career at JCI and they know only one way and one style. Their stock value hasn't moved in 20 years. Very sorry to ruin a place where people depend on for their livelihood.
I was laid off today from JCI after only starting last November. It is a blessing. Decent severance package. I knew it was coming. They did me a favor.
Taking a job at JCI was one of the worst decisions of my life. The company had a good rep previously because they do good work in the field but their internal organization is a nightmare. Constant change, high turnover, poor training, low morale, etc is what you will find there these days. Longer term employees who have somehow managed to avoid any of these layoffs all seem to be very jaded and view JCI as a company in rapid decline.
I have been with the company less than a year and have already witnessed at least 3 rounds of significant layoffs. I am still a relative "newbie" and have been forced to take on the work of 2 or 3 people due to layoffs, a hiring freeze, and re-organization. And I am still in need of training myself that I never received.
I guess after the new round of layoffs today it is time to start sharpening up the resume. Its only a matter of time before they lay my whole group off...the writing is on the wall. I honestly kind of wish I had been laid off today to avoid how terrible working there this summer will be....assuming the government extends the more generous unemployment benefits through year end but I wouldn't count on that. Good times!
Sorry to hear that. Wish you the best.
