Thread regarding Cognizant layoffs

Layoffs are beginning! Heard this week and next week.

Cognizant has started the process to Cutdown US employees, can’t share for certain how many folks got impacted but folks with “Meets some expectation” have been letgo from my team.

Not sure any h1b got impacted.

Cognizant's performance review and evaluation policy is very unfair and this should be complained to the forums and unions in US, India and other countries, so that people are aware of malpractice. I hope and wish Brian becomes aware of what is going on. MS rating is not given based on performance. There is no discussion by manager throughout the year with us. People managers doesn't have any idea about what we are doing with client projects and they are given the task of rating us.

As soon as you get your GC and if you take a medical leave or maternity leave, they put you in 4th bucket. Performance evaluation policy is not fair and is not actually based on performance but based on whether you have gc, whether you went on medical leave for surgery or maternity leave or FMLA for surgery or paternity leave etc. 4th bucket is given to gc and usc in order to protect h1b and not based on actual performance. There are several people who received escalations and they are protected by managers if they are h1b so that they can give 4th bucket to gc and usc without any reason.

heard they are giving 2 day notice to send you back to india via flight. Does anyone know what are they doing if anyone can't travel right away, are they willing to put someone on Loss of Pay? any help will be appreciated.

I am also in the same situation. Due to politics within the team, got 4th bucket. HR said I am terminated but not relieved yet and Now asking to resign. What is the situation of others?

I hate to say this, but the employment attorney is not going to help. They will promise you the world, take your money and nothing will happen. H1B is non-immigrant visa so a company can fire you and you do not really have a recourse.

I am on H1 with 2 small kids supporting 6 family members. Was in Billable Project, got a separation call from Hr due to MS rating in YEA2019 which I didn't agreed to. They overlooked my 10yrs of loyalty & recent client appreciations instead considered 5months of YEA2019 rating that was politically driven. I was put into a project that didn't mapped my skills and even though I performed & delivered, I ended up getting MS.

Is there a forum where all the employees who are getting layed off can connect, discus and seek advise from employment attorney? Please advise.

Yes they are laying off billable people with 4th bucket but they still saying no layoffs due to covid.. not sure how the bucket system works though.

Ransomware stole all information including cognizant corporate Amex information along with client data. Kaiser Permanente has revoked Cognizant network access. We need to see if they are going to again connect and continue to offshore the work with Cognizant.

Our area as well. Everyone was billable.
