Thread regarding Dean Foods Co. layoffs

Salesmen and Distribution Managers

Get rid of all of them. They are not doing their jobs. They act like they own everyone for keeping company afloat.

So what we've learned in this thread:

  • Salesmen think it's OK to lie to customers and make promises that they know won't be kept.
  • Salesmen think anyone pointing out this unethical behavior is a violation of the code of conduct...like a kid who steals a cookie immediately telling a parent that his sibling stole the cookie to cover for himself.
  • Doing a job poorly for 18 years makes the unethical behavior OK because you've been doing it that way for 18 years.
  • DFA sales seems to be OK with repeating all the mistakes that led to Dean Foods bankruptcy but for some reason now expect different results.

The Walmart and Dollar General accounts were a disaster. Milk sent back or non delivered and no recourse for adjustment. Cooperate accounts that go to warehouses and milk sent back with labels that were not theirs only to go to dump milk. The labor spent on returns is ridiculous. Transportation departments are out of control with the routes and drivers saying out of hours come pick me up. Someone needs the n*** to put standards into place and no one has. The ones that make decisions hide in an office. No total picture.

The future in this company will survive only if we get new work we can’t depend on the same that we have if we get the work we lost back there can be a turnaround corporate business can’t be the only business for this company to get back on there feet

I’m currently working with a regional contract that will demand 345,000 gallons of milk, 750,000 units of cottage cheese and 1.4 million units of sour cream and corrugated flavored offerings for 8 plants in a Dean foods regional network.

So keep complaining on how terrible sales is at keeping a paycheck in your pocket.

And then when your company can't meet what you promised with your YES SIR, they go to the competion as soon as they can and never come back.

When a client/customer demands 309,000 gallons to fill a contracted account. You always have to say YES SIR it will be fulfilled in time to get them to sign the deal and keep you EMPLOYED.

It is a competitive business. But, it donor excuse the two dollar increase in price from a brand that tried nationwide and failed. Go back to regional brands and you may compete. Foot traffic sells and regional brands did also. That is why the big retailers put their label on it. Most buyers do not realize that milk no matter what label came from the same tank. To them the label tastes better. Get out of the national brand and you will be better off.

If you were smart you would give every non corporate that you lost a free week and let the company write it off at end of year tell the customer you will never have to pay it off as long as they are tour customs

No...but we also wouldn't outright lie to make a deal. Lying and making false promises might get you short term business, but in the long run it leads to that business going away and never returning. Ever stop to think that maybe your reputation after 18 years of lying to customers might be what drove and is driving customers away and that you'd be better off doing something else.

You guys would fold like a circus tent if you had to be a salesman for a day on the road dealing with all the bs I do for the past 18 years.

Get LOST!!!! You guys have no clue how much pressure I am under daily and how stiff the competition is out on the road trying to outbid competitors for business.

I am trying my best. I have no control on bid price. I have to take what the uppers tell me and convince outlets to accept and constantly lie and make false promises to get them to sign a deal.

I’m away from my family Mon-Thur night and barely bring home a true salary.

Be thankful I’m keeping a paycheck in your pockets!!!
