Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Current/Former Sales Reps... What's the Value in a Channel Partner?

Do Channel Partners bring value to the client as part of the team in your opinion? I know a few that have expert technical knowledge and a great back office that have freed up my time and made customers happy, but a lot of other SPs just try to eat off me without doing any work.

What have you seen?

I was always honest with SPs and rewarded their hard work of prospecting hard to reach clients with bringing them into a deal or two that I knew fit their skill set. This kept the partner happy and interested and honestly I learned a lot from the technical SPs.

With all of this going on at T, I know which SPs I can look to for a job should my time end soon!

And many AT&T folks just troll the SP for sales to SIP. Be real

Most SP’s sell more that just AT&T and just want the sell. Very few bring value and add ons other than just a plain circuit. They don’t even try to sell security products in 99% of the cases. I do have good mobility SP but looks like we won’t be working with SP if we are even here come August 1st

Yes, a few are good and Yes, some just want to milk you. In addition, a few of them if they could not sell your customer a T product, they might sell them something else. Seen it done.

The problem with the Solution Providers is this - you were told by management to give them your account list, so they can call into your accounts. You did what you were told to do. Now, the layoffs are coming. Guess who might be working your accounts in a few weeks?
