Just want to get a pulse on how job search and placement has been with those laid off. It is frustrating after many months myself.

Lot of recruiters in the market who just collect resume and forward in a tier upwards so that each tier would benefit a cut and the actual candidate being offered peanuts. One doubtful opening or a fart by a hiring manager and the whole recruiter tier gets activated for nothing with every company changing the requirement line slightly to post online giving a fake idea that there a lot of openings. And they want candidate to relocate without anything. My reaction to those offers - Go fish or go fart!
No luck yet, many applications submitted, no interview so far...
Laid off 5/4. Used the resume writing service provided by Hal. The job searching in it isn’t very effective. Used the new resume and went crazy applying on LinkedIn, Glassdoor, ziprecruiter, and indeed. Got several calls, and initial interviews only to not go forward. Finally got a break with Murray Resources (headhunters) from a post they had on ziprecruiter. Went through 3 rounds of interviews with a non oilfield company and got a job offer last week. 10k pay cut from what I got at Hal but it’s better than no job plus it has benefits and is a different industry so looking at it as a price for relatively no experience with that exact industry. Anyway, my advice is to use the service to at least tidy up your resume and take some of the free webinars they offer and keep applying. Work is out there. Best of luck to all other ex Hal people and those unfortunate enough to still be at Halcatraz.
i agree, give it time. keep filling out the applications. it only takes one. good luck. also make fun of the baby cries.
This is a great time to retrain yourselves. Early next year, economy will grow. High tech and defense industry will be hiring again. Spend money wisely, take the benefits of unemployment, delay the mortgage if you have to, stay afloat and remain healthy. Remember the lessons you have learned in this and the previous downturn. Do not fall for the trap again. Be ready to take control of your future and make a wise decision next time.
Everyone is in the same boat. Give it time and never give up.
Wife of an oil and gas worker and I can say being home is what we wished for. Soon enough the market will be back and these days will be a memory. Enjoy some time off. You earned it.
i sat out almost all of the 2016 but have been employed since.
Been laid off since 5/5 , havent seen any Jobs posted anywhere that wasn’t a pay cut and to change careers and try to learn a new job skill would put most of us older guys further behind the curve and it as well. Hopefully things turn around And this Covid BS stops and business that pay well start to hire again
18 years with HAL, got laid off in May. I am not looking for work in the O&G as I know there are none out there. I will be looking at other industries when Economy opens up again. Good luck to you all.
What is Rocket league at northbelt manufacturing
Filling our 10-15 applications per day since May 4 and not one single interview or callback
I’m 55, been a mechanic 32 years, last 9 with Big Red. It’s not an easy market, but I start a new job on the 20th. I’ve was laid off on 4/28, and with the Covid screwing the economy it’s not the easiest to find work that pays well. This job I’ll take a pay cut , but it will pay my bills, and probably a lot less headaches. I don’t see myself returning to Halliburton, it has too many flaws, and the security vanished like a fart in the wind. Good luck to you, hope luck comes your way.
Go to Singapore! Lots of jobs soon...jump ship
