I only worked at Murphy for several years yet have seen 5 layoffs. They hire and fire at will. Avoid this company unless you have nowhere else to go

I would say that is many companies Now days. Having worked for 3 majors, the management and executives are often propped up to a point anyone could fill the role. Also a lot of companies will move employees to preserve them in the downturn. They often get stuck in HSE. When things pick back up then they have options.
I would agree with this. I am lucky that I had moved on a year ago after I saw the disease that festered within. They take care of the good ol boys club with promotions and meanwhile the employees that are sub management level keep the shrimp boat afloat. Apparently they did that over at the HSE group this last go around. Not sure of the details but there seems to be some top levels with 0 HSE experience. Sounds about right...
