Thread regarding Cloudera layoffs

What's the deal with sales? What happened to getting new customers?

Let's try to be objective. Things are bad here .. but they're not as bad as we thought they would be, say, last summer.

Since last summer we've managed to get a decent amount into CDP AND add new customers fairly consistently. What happened to getting new customers? Why did it seem we stopped getting new customers right when RB took over?

Sorry I don't have much interaction with sales, and when I do it's not honest. My guess is that dropping service personnel will just exacerbate this problem of no new faces.

You don't know what you're talking about. Cloudera is growing, we are just not taking over the world like people said ~5 years ago.

Even if we don't win a ton in the cloud, it's still a good growing business.

The sales of CDP has been anything but a success and nearly every customer has informed them that they are facing downsizing (or at best, zero growth) for hadoop platforms.

New customers? You are joking, right? There are not enough new logo's to replace the massive number of accounts that are leaving CDH/HDP for things like EMR/HDi/DataProc or ditching Hadoop in general.

Bearden came back only to help stabilize the bleeding so they could sell it off. Arguing otherwise is completely pointless.
