Lowe’s has benign getting rid of in house delivery gradually over the past ten years. Most stores still run their own flatbed though.
Just Lowe’s trying to save a buck. They don’t worry about paying benefits and running their own trucks.

Just read where JC Penney is closing 154 stores! This was Marvin’s last project . Isn’t that something for Lowe’s to look forward to? He’s doing a great job so far. And he doesn’t even have to come up with new business plans since he’s using all his plans from Home Depot. Big corporate salary for no effort.

I worked for Lowes - Bought a washing machine to be delivered and installed. 1st crew showed up 3 hours late - did not (or claimed) not to speak English. Damaged my back door bringing it in. Tore up the floor sliding the machine in - did not level it properly and the water hose disconnected the first time we used the machine.

Called them up - they sent another crew from Mexico and told them to leave. Called corporate - said they would take care of it and no one followed up.

Tried to get them to cut me a check for all the damages done and was told since I worked for Lowes, they would not take care of the issue.

So I quit - hired a small claims lawyer and received a check last week for 4 times the amount that I had originally asked for.

Simple fact. 3rd party crews do double the deliveries per day vs our last red vest drivers. Sorry just the facts.

The box truck delivery crews were let go in my market about this time last year. Apparently the only requirement for the 3rd party crews to get hired was that they could show up with and drive a truck. Most of the crews showed little to no knowledge of setting up appliances. Customer complaints have shot through the roof as have product damages. Sadly it is no longer uncommon for us to have to schedule multiple re-trips just to get a crew that is capable of reversing the door swing on either a dryer or a top mount refrigerator. They will not even hookup a refrigerators water line unless the shutoff valve is directly behind the refrigerator. Embarrassing to have to tell my elderly customers that if their water shutoff is anywhere else that they will not only be responsible for shutting off the water, but also doing the hookup themselves. Our 3rd party crews are also unwilling to reuse a customer's existing front load washer/dryer pedestals. I could go on but get ready for a dramatic drop in the level of service and an exponential increase in customer complaints.
