I was a furloughed employee that ended up getting laid off on June 1. They told everyone that we would be returning to work. So nobody looked for other jobs during the furlough period. And then we all get canned. The should have cut us in April but they didnt because they were receiving subsidies from the government through the start of the pandemic.
I just read an article that said that IGT will go bankrupt within 2 years. Google IGT Bankruptcy and you’ll find it.
Another sweep of layoffs went into effect July 1. Not sure which departments were impacted, but from the tone of my boss, it was pretty big. (My job was eliminated, but they are searching for another position for me.) I feel this outcome was inevitable and even if I am completely laid off, I don't blame them for it. The company is a lot better managed than pre-merger, and there isn't much they can do to get their core player demographic to leave the house right now.
On top of gaming going to flextronics, all of the lottery ITVMs are being sent to innocon. Probably so if we can’t pay one side of the company, we can still get product from the other.
I feel bad for our regular suppliers like superior steel, a&b, KSA, even KTC.
IGT has been butt fricking their suppliers since I’ve been an employee
Outsourcing the studios is one thing. Reno is literally outsourcing all manufacturing. Every jur will be getting their own office to install BVs, Printers and Brainboxes. Flextronics is going to be drop shipping what we used to call “neuters” to all of the field offices. Since we now only lease the Reno facility, they are planning to sublease a majority of the building.
Tasso and his fellow spaghetti s—ers just want more money.
I really would like to know how outsourcing engineering is going to work for them. To be honest with you, I know people in Lighthouse (who works with third parties) and that person told me that the third parties games are buggy and have problems. She told me that that the only way IGT can make better quality games is if they do it in-house themselves. So with that being said, I can guarantee that games will take an extremely long time to finish and IGT will be lucky if 3 games get released per year. The Italians destroyed this company.
I heard first hand from a manager that things are looking bad and that more layoffs will be coming. I heard the same thing that all of the engineering will be outsourced. Most of the testing has been shifted to China. I agree, run for the hills because this company might ultimately declare bankruptcy. Nobody is going to buy out the game side of IGT since there is already so much debt that they incurred. It’s sad because this company used to be number 1. Now Everi has them beat.
Its only a matter of time until we're a skeleton crew. IGT is working with an outside company to outsource all of its Manufacturing. Run for the hills. All these Italians care about is their money.
Furlough extensions for many, not heard about any additional layoff since previous comments.
