Can someone provide any details on what they know from NMG corporate center employees. What is the plan with Buyers and Buy Planners?

We'll see if they have the guts to pull off large scale layoffs this month, or whether they'll chicken out and punt the decision again. My guess is they'll extend furloughs now cause of the riot impact.Think about it from the damage control perspective of a Nordstrom exec: never let an opportunity for a good taxpayer funded vacation go to waste. I also expect many of these retailers not to reopen all their looted stores, especially in more "urban" areas. The Chiefs run their corporate PR game, but this will bring nothing but pain for the retail employees and urban residents.

Must s— to feel smart and have dumb people working beside you right. Guess we’ll all be standing together in the unemployment line. They’ll probably let me cut because I’m wearing the helmet though.

Yes, the pandemic induced shutdown would have caused layoffs. But sales should have started improving already as states opened up and pandemic fear went down. Now instead of a slow, steady rampup we got the protests. Thus ensuring stores will be out of service AGAIN and we'll go back to bleeding money probably for the remainder of the year - how many times do we have to explain why the rioting will cause additional layoffs? Nordstrom's HR staff needs a good culling as they're not going a good job weeding out worthless math illiterate helmet wearing [email protected] like you.

You were on a lay-off website pre protest. We have been getting emails warning for lay-offs for weeks. You will be getting laid off, people will continue to protest and you will continue to hide behind your screen. Sales fell 40% before this, maybe blame it on your id–t president for allowing a pandemic to ravish through it’s country. You will still be laid off. Continue to file for your weekly unemployment.

And now the risks are now off the charts.

The City of Seattle allowed a mob of rioters to rape and loot the flagship Nordstrom store. Thank Christ they did not burn it, imagine that, kids.

BUT THEY LET THIS HAPPEN TO A SEATTLE ICON, THE SICK, CORRUPT, LEFTIST LOCAL .GOV.

Will Nordstrom even exist five years from now? It's an open question at this point.

I’m always around. Part of the drama here is the question of whether N is over staffed from the last several years, from hiring, acquisitions, expensive people. Those old posts on Blind and referenced here, bragging about salary levels and headcount in Technology, I have no idea if they are true.

But if they are true, then these expenses may have run wild in the last few years. In 2016 there was an initial layoff, then some more, and then an ugly panic that summer as many left on their own, including a whole specialized team. Remember how the hotshot ex-AMZN CTO crashed and burned? This scared management, triggered a hiring binge for several years, culminating in dudes bragging about making $275k on Blind, top dev dollar.

This is all a hunch on my part, people have been very mum here to answer my questions about headcount and salaries. I don’t even know the degree to which [IT contractor vendor] is still in use. I’ve pondered all of this for some time, but no one has really answered my questions. I’m a voice in the wilderness, talking to myself.

I’m in the dark. Meanwhile, I have tried to highlight the risks for the company, which are existential.

An expected lay-off and reorganization is a long-awaited real data point for observers like me. Plus, maybe we’ll get reports here from fresh ex-insiders. The company has to do something, slashing expenses as proposed must hit Corp center headcount.

I am the floating free conscience of an interested objective observer, a brain out in space.
