Mckinnleyville and Ramona, California are among the 5. Ramona reports liquidators will be arriving in the 16th. Maryland and 2 PA stores also set to close.

Sears Saugus MA should be a goner. Yes the top floor stayed vacant since Jan 2018 but the lower level is now set to be an entertainment center which has sq footage that includes the backroom and the office.
I called Edge Water MD, and the lady that answered the phone claimed they are NOT closing. Was she misinformed? Or is this claim that they're closing inaccurate?
Oddly, I called EDGEWATER MD and the lady that answered the phone Said they were NOT closing. Maybe she didn't Know? Or are they really not closing? I simply cannot remove them from my list until they are verified.
The 5 Kmart stores plus 1 Sears in the continental US have already been identified to close. The Saugus, MA location has not been mentioned to close as yet.
The Houston-Shepard Sears, a Seritage property, has Store Closing jobs listed at jobs.sears.com now.
We’ve already identified the 5 US mainland store closures. They are all Seritage owned Kmarts, along with the two Puerto Rico properties.
Saugus, MA Sears is not one of them, although additional closures involving Sears stores are supposedly being included as forthcoming closures as well.
Woops, sorry, I meant "path" of least resistance, not "past" below.
@2vhh+15oYxqUP Well, they won't last to August 30 LOL! I would be surprised if they get to August 1. I called Minot and they confirmed they are closing on July 17. As for this "email" that someone has seen......can someone take a picture of or scan it? Then upload it to one of those sites like imagur (or whatever it's called)? I just need something visible, in writing so I can modify the list. Sure I can call the stores, but I would have no way to prove or verify that I did, and I would not expect anyone to take me at their word, so I still need some evidence I can link to before I modify the map and list. I too, will keep digging, hopefully I can find something online, in some remote corner of the internet.
I have a feeling we're not done with this round yet. I have a feeling the MT, MA, & MI Kmarts might be nailed soon. They are all in 1 store-states, and are not near any other states that have stores. Honestly, banging out those 3, is really low-hanging fruit at this point, so it should be a no-brainer, Seritage properties or not. Double whammy because another poster mentioned that Hyannis MA Kmart is across from a Target. That means the Kmart is beyond doomed. I Checked online, and the same is true for White Plains Kmart. In fact, White Plains NY has a Target, Kmart, AND a Sears. That is just unsustainable and the weakest link among those 3 brands is Kmart, so look for that to be the past of least resistance and close soon. Just a theory...........
I'd put a 90% probability on the Saugus, MA Sears being one of the 5, because the Saugus select board has approved leasing out the first floor of that store to Apex Entertainment.
I am told that the second floor is currently vacant, but it's hard to imagine Sears taking the time and expense to move their store upstairs.
Is that just for the 7 Kmarts that were mentioned yesterday or do you think there will also be other closings added? Also does anyone know which of the other 5 seritage properties are closing?
Last day for liquidation of the stores is aug 30th unless they sell out sooner. Cant post links, all info coming from store emails, and what we are told in store by store management.
@1gan+15oYxqUP Honestly I wonder why they didn't close South Lake Tahoe Kmart. I mean, they closed Vegas' last Kmart and that is a much bigger town.
Checked out the South Lake Tahoe store today as I was passing through the area. Shocked at the state of Kmart stores! The store is so bare, very little merchandise and what is there is single faced down an entire aisle. I overheard a customer ask an employee when the store was closing and the employee said “never, it’s the most profitable store in our district” LOL aren’t all remaining Kmart stores in a single district or maybe it’s mainland district and offshore district. Either way that made me giggle. There were maybe 4 customers in the store and 1 checkout lane open. Service desk was not staffed and I heard PA pages for “customer service to the service desk”. Lane 1 cashier was answering the telephone and checking customers out. It was very interesting. I bought a reusable “I Love South Lake Tahoe Kmart” bag for kicks.
The probable reason the 5 US mainland stores I furnished to you in this thread aren’t listed on the job site as yet is because the employees were just notified of these closures via email.
Ramona Kmart is calling furloughed employees to ask if they want to work during liquidation.
Damn, copied and pasted the wrong thing below. They should allow editing. Anyway, here:

Mayaguez, Puerto Rico is another town that has both a Sears and a Kmart. The Kmart is a Seritage property, too.
Woops, link to the below mentioned job site, filtered to show Kmart jobs:
Oddly, none of these are listed as closing on the jobs site. There are a total of 28 Kmart jobs, but the only ones of those that are listed as closing are Minot ND, and Lebanon NH.

Why on Earth would they not also close Miami, Silver Spring, White Plains & Long Beach? Seritage or not, these 4 towns have both a Sears AND a Kmart. No need for both brands in 1 town. They should bang out 1 of the 2 brands in all 4 of those towns. Especially since they're closing the other MD location, why leave 1 straggler there? Close 'em both, & get 'er done!!!!
Shocked that they are keeping MT, MA, & MI open (for now), as someone mentioned below. I mean while they're bouncing out these 5, why not knock off those 3 while they're at it? There is no reason on Earth for there to be a Kmart in Montana, for crying out loud.
CA real estate has resale value
Ponce is a nice place to visit

The full article requires paying for a subscription, but the first paragraph is all we need to confirm the closings.
Here is the list (received via email to employees) of the 5 Kmart closures referenced in this post, all are Seritage owned properties:
McKinley CA - (Seritage owned)
Ramona CA - (Seritage owned)
Edgewater MD - (Seritage owned)
Columbia PA - (Seritage owned)
Walnutport PA - (Seritage owned)
IF all of these reports are accurate, that would take us down to 34 Kmarts, 25 in US states and 9 in overseas territories.
Guaynabo and Ponce In Puerto Rico. They were announced on the news this morning.
Which ones in Puerto Rico? If this was in the news, can you link to the news reports?
Seritage is the landlord of four Kmarts (Bayamon, Guaynabo, Mayaguez, Ponce) and two Sears (Caguas, Carolina) in Puerto Rico.
2 Kmart stores locales in Puerto Rico also .News from today
@kxx Walnutport and Columbia
The moderator of Kmart's page in Silver Spring, MD says the store is not closing (as of now). This was a few hours ago. So the MD store must be Edgewater, which makes sense for the reasons (Seritage) stated previously.
McKinleyville and Ramona are both Seritage properties.
Which stores in Pennsylvania and Maryland are closing? Columbia PA, Walnutport PA, and Edgewater MD are also Seritage properties.
CA doesn't really make sense unless you're shutting down all mainland stores considering all the ports are on the West Coast.
What about closures for Sears stores, any news?
Still surprised that Montana, Michigan and Massachusetts haven’t closed. I’m assuming these Kmarts are part of that mysterious list of 12 out of 17.
Any stores closing in NJ or NY?
Agreed thise 2 make sense
CA stores closing makes sense. They are the most northern and southern stores in the state respectively.
