In previous layoffs it was up to the supervisors to rank each employee by their usefulness, however this is where politics come into play and at Helmerich and Payne it’s rife with politics at all levels so managers were getting lists of some great and not real great workers and so you had good and the bad all let go.

In some departments, it was personal on the manager's part. There is no other reason for some of the decisions.
