Thread regarding Apache Corp. layoffs

Why are laid off employees treated like common criminals?

I'd really like to know why Apache treats employees who have been laid off (not fired for something they did but laid off) like common criminals and escorts them out of the building without letting them pick up their personal belongings. What do they think will happen? There is no excuse for such treatment of people who are already feeling like c-ap on account of losing a job.

Board and CEO to blame for enabling, ignoring and turning blind eye
With them this company has no future.
Let’s hope we hit $16 today.

The CEO's ineptitude doesn't excuse the idiocy of SA's former VP. This guy was a sleazy salesman, and nothing more. Riding the coattails of more competent professionals than he along the way.

As if selling ideas that were obvious failures to virtually every other technical professional in the company weren't enough, he was responsible for a significant number of true, old-school Apaches (from founding CEO days) being laid off, because their acumen threatened his empty shell of a facade. Sure, blame the CEO for most or all of it, but it's more appropriate to remember mistakes like SpecialK and make sure we steer clear of those mongoloids in the future.

It is interesting that people are mad at SpecialK when it was our Painfully Unqualified CEO who fostered and rewarded the behavior. It is ONLY John that you should be mad at. It is ONLY John that should be pushed out. It is ONLY John who is bullheaded enough to run us into the ground. Stop fighting ghosts. Fight the power.

I don’t believe everything I hear. I also worked for him and witnessed it myself.

SpecialK was only special for his conniving and deceitful ways.

“ I know people that worked with him before”
Right. Always believe everything you hear. Sorry to say the neighborhood gossip is wrong in this case.

SpecialK was already a secrecy loon. I know people that worked with him before Apache and EOG. He deserved to be pushed out bc he is a liar and a cheat. Good riddance.

With John’s renewed focus on Alpine High (weeks after walking away from it) SpecialK doesn’t seem like the foolish one anymore, heh?!
I think Apache’s culture made SK vs the other way around. And I am a corporate employee.

And let’s don’t forget also that SpecialK created that secrecy & remove your “enemies” culture to cover his lies.

Speak up people!. Apache is the absolute worst company around in employee treatment. Unfortunately, as with the stock price, we went from best to worse. Anybody who has tenure of 10 years or better should agree. Anyone with 10 years or less knows no better. JC's impact started about 10 years ago when he opened the Midland office and used family to build it. His legacy will be remembered for making Apache the S&P 500 stock loser of the decade. He came by it naturally and drilled uneconomic wells all over the Permian in the name of volume before becoming CEO and putting the final nail in Apache's coffin. This time was also the beginning of the end in good, fair employee treatment. He has eroded Apache's core values since. Apache is a laughing stock and, in time, JC's chickens will come home to roost.

It's a trash company. But honestly it probably stems from an incident a while ago in Egypt that some of the old-timers still remember. A particular employee, who had access to a lot of stuff, made off with a significant amount of proprietary information.

Also, they don't care about how employees feel. So it's easier for them to justify being cruel than being trusting while a disgruntled employee steals data. It's why I encourage my colleagues (and all of you) to openly voice your hatred of the corporation and the way it treats people. The more people who hear it the better, especially your manager. The cool ones will agree but it's also really funny to watch the lame ones squirm in discomfort. Been doing it for years. 10/10 would recommend.

Absolutely agree. Apache thinks they have important information that everyone is just trying to get their hands on.
Bad hr practice from a mediocre company. People are our greatest asset. A joke from a company that says fire in the belly with a straight face.
Those laid off deserve better. No doubt being out of this sinking ship will be repayment enough.

Don’t be a fool, Apache never cared for their employees. Look at how fast they turn on us.
