Thread regarding Williams Cos. layoffs

Another Round of Layoffs

Was in a meeting last week for a "strategic staffing plan" effort where it was confirmed we are looking for an additional 10-20% reduction across the board. Management is saying the effort is about optimizing our people and organizations, but when pressed has confirmed we have to provide savings in doing so. When asked about targets, the 10-20% was repeated several times. Looking for a bigger reduction from support organizations. I reallythought this was over after the last round of reductions end of last year.

Good to see that COVID hasn’t slowed down the WEN Golf Outing and Clay shoots.

"Strategic Staffing" is just another nice way to say that your job has been eliminated! I know of a few people in the Pittsburgh office that have been let go. Not surprising.....this is Williams way and will always be. They do not know how to run a company nor keep good employees. Supposedly, they are looking for another 20-30% reduction in force, or what they are calling "Strategic Staffing". Hope everyone has learned from all the layoffs to look elsewhere, sooner or later, your number will be up. Just a matter of time.

COE department is a sham they need to go first, they bring nothing to the table!

Maybe they should look at leadership in E&C. People are supposed to be working from home right? Travel approval requires a VP sign off before I can go to a station to do WORK, right? But E&C leaders can jump on planes to come here and play GOLF? Really man? priorities are f**ed up!

Looks like nothing has changed at Williams, although change is good according to AA.

Seems like a lot of speculation I’m this post.

There will be layoffs, and more layoffs. Williams is a poorly managed firm in a dying industry. New revenue is impossible, management is more dishonest than any firm I've seen. Everyone can see the trajectory and draw their own conclusions, but that's my take and I've been around the industry for a while.

Very disappointing to sit in an IT meeting and listen to very political people blame problems on someone laid off and no longer there to defend themselves. Worse is when the statements are entirely false and they haven't the first clue. Those people prop themselves up to upper management to make themselves look superior.

If you designate your department as a Center of Excellence, you may be safe to run over the workhorses without fear of layoff.

Why do people like to speculate with little or no information, c-ap like this is why this stuff doesn't help, say somthing that has basis, or nothing at all.

10 to 20 percent is peanuts for this company that wastes money like crazy. They will fire the innocent and cut the heads in no time, only to rehire a whole new crew in time. In the meantime they will tout the “decision” to their inventors to try to appease them and get favor. They may get a quick bump in stock price but it will be followed by another extended decline if history repeats.

10-20% would be a pretty deep cut. How accurate is the org. OP’s numbers?

Probably a bogus post but who knows with this company it might give them ideas and will do it later this year especially if the stock price drops anymore before the end of the year.?

Read earnings report, if true he will try to take credit it for it in the earnings report in an attempt to prop up the stock price and keep his job.

You thought it was over? Never believe anything somebody in a tie and suit in the corporate world tells you. The had handwriting was on the walk when they fired the best and brightest and most dedicated hard work employees in 2016 because they did not have talent. A code word for being over 50 and washed up.

No suprise here. Show and tell for shareholders. All personnel decisions are based on stock price it’s down for the year so they fire. When they get a vaccine next year and ng demand explodes They will be caught with their pants down again with nobody with experience do the work. They will be forced to chase and buy existing facilities at hugely inflated prices driving up debt and depressing returns and stock prices as always. They need to get rid of the ceo and all of the overpriced VPs and start with fresh people and new ideas.

It’s never over at Williams. This is a very poorly run company imo. They overhire and then overfire, mo excuse for this. It happens over and over. The management are like vampires. They get a bit of blood 🩸 discard the bodies and then start all over again to stay alive. Sorry

The company was good to me it was some of the people in management positions that had a lot to be desired. The thing is you just can’t walk away from a good paying job but if you knew there was a chance you were going to lose your job it would be nice to have a Headstart on trying to find something right now jobs are so hard to fine. I know there’s a lot of people unhappy with the company right now but they still can’t walk away from the job. The only thing you can do in the meantime is pay off what you can and save everything you can and cut back on things you really don’t need. Either way if you keep your job or lose your job these are things you should be doing anyway. Everything around us is so unpredictable right now.

Anyone working for Williams should run away as fast as they can. IT WAS THE WOARST COMPANY I WORKED FOR IN MY 45 years in the oil & gas industry.

Please keep everyone informed with what’s going on you know they won’t let them know anything until the last minute. It’s also helpful if you know the areas that are going to be laid off. Right now jobs are so scarce it would be nice if they had a chance to start looking before they lost their jobs.
