Seagate is doomed!

LCO and SHK hired large numbers last year. It will turn out to be a big business blunder if they end up RIF'ing employees in September.
I heard the recent package was good from some people got it.
Not sure there will be any changes for the next wave of retrenchment if any
What was the package in SSDC this round?
Is it true that LCO is going to face more layoffs this year?

Then those in SSDC awaiting their package are in for a huge shock. My contacts tell me that the this was the last round of of an overly generous package in SG and that moving forward it will be aligned with the US.
Now you know why so many senior management took the package this time round.

since everyone in SSDC is waiting for retrenchment package, do you think seagate can move forward with everyone with the "layoff" mentality?
if thats the case seagate SSDC is doom upon
Yup. People really need the package if they have been working in Seagate for a Long time, considering the bad job market in the city country.
Those still working in SSDC are just waiting for retrenchment package for their long service
Passion work work??
just saw California warn list
Fremont had 78 folks laid off from the recent ...
trying to see MN and CO if their warn notices have been updated
Can somebody from NRM comment if any lab space and office areas are being prepared?
Why worry about things that are out of your hands.
Get rif? No worries. Thanks seagate for a good memory and move on to the next pasteur. Hopefully it will be greener.
I highly suspect, when the move from SHK to NRM is actually happening, some won't be coming with.
Also, more and more in SHK are now reporting to someone in LCO. Some parallel groups (if we still call them that, and what's left of them anyway) will be eliminated. If you get offered to move to CO consider it, however not sure how long your job is there. Hate to move and be done after another year or so.
Unless you're the SVP of "Business Excellence" it's natural to worry about getting rif'ed. People aren't robots.
Disk drives just aren't a long-term growth proposition. Yes, there will be tech refreshes where some quarters will be better than others, but year over year, less than great.
Save your money, take advantage of training, keep your resume up to date.
Based on years of observation, SSDC will usually just let go small pool of people.
LCO count would be reduced by 40% in a year from now. For Dothill only few people will be there for device only.
it is a bad time to find a new job, but a good time to learn in my view.
Please take some online classes, let Seagate pay for it. It did this for 5 years and I really worried a lot less, enjoyed to learn something on the weekends, nights or at work, and could really use it for my work. So it is good for you and good for Seagate and one can explain to the family, why spending so much time on the PC. I am working on my "MBA" or whatever dream you have. Just take small steps towards it.
Anyone who knows isn’t going to tell so any number you do hear is all rumors. Even if you were told the number, what are you going to do about? Worry? You’re apparently already doing it. If you can’t handle the volatility of hard drive industry then get out. If your worried about losing your job, start looking else where. I don’t get why you folks wring your hands worrying about it. It’s not like you can change anything about it other than get a different job.
