I've heard there were major layoffs at Panera last week, lots of veterans gone. I left a few years ago when it became obvious that the company was headed downhill and I never looked back. When I heard the news I wanted to check if it was true since there were a lot of good people and friends still working there after I left and I'd hate to see them kicked out in this economy.

True. I was an AM for 14+ years and was laid off July 2020. Zero severance. I worked hard, had stellar PEs every year, met or exceeded all corporate goals, and basically kept my location going when Covid hit. I feel I was let go because I was with the company the longest which meant I was the among the highest earning salaried employees in my area partnership. I know I was earning more than the GM, and I was “too expensive” so it was easier for regional managers to make a big budget chop by letting me go.
My mom's store has closed last week. They are closing stores but they are hiding it. You will not see news about Panera closing stores.
