Thread regarding Noble Energy Inc. layoffs

Noble Stock

What happens to Noble stock in your 401k? I don’t have much but was hoping it would at least get to half of what I paid before selling. Will it convert to Chevron stock or do we have to sell it at the current price?

You can sell now you want. You do not have any insider info. It was announced publicly. So unless you are actually working the deal you are free to do what ever you want to

Be careful selling now, whether you are told or not, you are considered an insider and the 2Q 10Q has not been filed and any sales will be scrutinized for especially employees during the period leading up to the approval and closing.. Even if you do not think you have insider information, you dooooooo!

If you hold on to the stock after closing it will automatically convert to CVX. You will get 0.1192 shares of CVX for each share of Noble. When you sell it is all up to you. Do you want to sell at Noble's current price or do you want to wait and sell after it convert to CVX? I guess it depends on which one would net the better deal. Luckily I sold all my vested Noble stock when it was still $23. If it was me I'd go ahead and sell all your Noble shares today and invest in the market as right now is still a good opportunity to buy. I would buy Large growth ETF or S&P 500. It will be better than holding on to an oil stock.
