Thread regarding American Airlines Group Inc. layoffs

Taxpayers against the extension of stimulus package

Can't tell which is worse, the notice I received after 4 years in company or the heartless comments of people who are OK with 19k more people being unemployed. It is understood that small businesses are struggling as well but the lack of compassion in these comments is unreal.
Totally agree that saving jobs in the airline industry would mean a quicker economic recovery in years ahead:

Good. Taxpayers don't give a c-ap about American Airlines employees because their service is sh–ty and their employees are rude. See how Southwest treats customers well and at this same time they aren't laying off any of their employees? Work for a sh–ty company like AA and treat us like sh– - how's it feel now?

No more bailouts for the airline industry. Business travel no longer necessary due to Zoom. Protect the environment and keep the planes out of the air. Look on the bright side - no more crowded planes, crowded airports, and flying was miserably anyway. The tens of thousands that are laid off will find other work that is more meaningful for the planet.

AA has some bad management in place. Some so called managers don't even have an associates degree. These managers know nothing. I wonder how these managers are selected? With such people in charge how will these airlines improve? Delta and United are exceptions, but Delta appears to best in class.

Quite honestly, there's a lot of long-timers there that need to be let go in order for cultural change to really occur and for AA to be update-to-date with tech. Goodbye, senior management. I hope your 20+ years of butt kissing were worth it.

These airlines were so greedy when times were good, they would charge fees for bags, any changes, etc and now they all want our tax money in tens of billions to survive. They give out free business class travel to all their employees and family and now they are begging for taxpayer bailout?? Doesn't make any sense when that same money can be given out to small businesses and save many more jobs.

How exactly, in saving airline jobs, creates a quicker economic recovery? Facts are what they are, Fact 1, companies are now used to doing business via Zoon so they are not going to jump to send employees out the door on planes if the expense is not needed. Fact 2, majority of air traffic in the past was business travel, so take that out of the equation and you can certainly see the need to downsize the airlines now and not put them on a lifeline to nowhere. Fact 3, there are many other industries that have and are going thru the same downturn in business so what would be the argument not to do the same for those industries, with a bail out ? Fact 4, the economy is in the tank, there will be a huge depression on the horizon in 2021. Residential foreclosures resume, commercial foreclosures begin, white collar layoffs have been realized, small businesses have closed, malls have closed, etc... Who the heck is going to be flying in 2021????
