???

I was laid off. How many of you are going with COBRA. If not COBRA then what?

COBRA is expensive but it is seamless. If you go with the ACA options, Kaiser is the least expensive, but Kaiser is a whole world unto itself. If you have PPO now, you will have to change all your doctors.
If your job prospects are good, do COBRA until you start with the new employer. My two cents.

COBRA may be more expensive than private insurance, but it may also be better coverage. Compare carefully.

If not COBRA, then seek private health insurance. Find a Broker to help evaluate your coverage options. Note that private insurance is typically just as expensive as COBRA coverage because neither are underwritten by an employer.

Not to turn this into a political forum, but BIden has explicitly said that he will not support any medicaid for all bill. The time to press for that has passed. Not saying don't vote for Biden, but don't bet your health on him.

To answer the original question, COBRA is probably the best bet. I've used it in the passed and it worked ok.
