Thread regarding Liberty Mutual layoffs

Retirement buyouts are here

Nice parachute for long term employees w/ at leat 10 yrs w/ the company and over age 55 - 3 weeks pay/yr of service up to 30 yrs/90 weeks dropped into retiremet cash balance plan + a few other benefits extended. Right after that was announced, email from upper mgt indicating the belt tightening will continue. Let's hope we don't see layoffs, but it seems almost invevitable.

What news of the fall layoffs after EROs rolled out? Many of my colleagues from the mid-80s era are out, the few that were left took the EROs - a great deal. I got RIF'd almost 4 years ago with 2 wks per YOS, kept the pension eligibility.

We got news in Lewiston that our office doors are closing As of 12/31/20 for the support staff contractors ... don’t know yet what that means for the Liberty WFH group, but it’s sad. This office has been here since 50+ years

I heard the same. I haven't seen any announcement or PR release on scope of lay off. I heard managers had no notice, some laid off and some asked to take pay cuts. A lot of consolidating departments and some odd reorgs.

They apparently laid off a lot of people today.

A bit of a realignment in claims announced today - fewer zones, broader span of control.. I think they are trying to do the right thing w/ allowing no backfill for attrition for a bit instead of outright job cuts but they are apparently laying off some team leaders. Best wishes to them.. Any news from other departments?

I wouldn’t expect layoff information until the early retirements are known
