Posting as of 09/08/20 - The Hartford making statements about eliminating positions, reducing staffing as well as forced early retirement. Well this just happened to my family. The Hartford should be ashamed of itself to be laying people off in the wake of a global pandemic in order to save money. The company itself is in NO way struggling for money as the ceo and executives make hundreds of thousands of dollars every month. It sickens me to think of how selfish this company is. I wish the news would do a report on this.

I worked there until recently. All you are saying is incorrect. First, there is more employee demand for these generous packages than there are offers. Second, a corporation has a fiduciary duty to its owners. This is not charity. Third, to think of the Hartford as selfish and having old school leaders is ironic. It is the most woke, PC company you can imagine. Perhaps THAT’s why it’s failing.
I hope the company nudges some of the relics of the past - their C-Level to retire or take the package being offered, and given an opportunity to the next gen leaders.
This is not rumored but a fact. Employers were sent an email asking if they would consider voluntary lay off. Those announcement's are set to be made by September 20. After that if there are not enough voluntary layoffs people Will be let go. It is beyond horrible during a pandemic where getting a new job is still very hard to do with the increased number of those already unemployed. Customers already complain about the lack of empathy and timely service and guess what it's going to get worse. If Greedy was a person.
