Now that most of us in the Calgary HO are back in the office, there is talk that the primary reason we are all back–and why Husky was so eager to have us back–is to prepare for another round of layoffs next month. Word is that folks from Hutchison have arrived from China in preparation. Anyone else hearing anything?

Peabody has consistently said in all town halls that they adjust staff to capital spend. We have not seen layoffs on a large scale after we reduced capital spend by 50% for 2020. Add to that the West White Rose Project pause (and perhaps cancellation) and the delay or cancellation of all the future 10k plants in Lloyd - there will be large layoffs to match. Some this year, and probably well into 2021.
Something is cooking in the background. Behind close doors workload between teams is being worked out and in next couple of weeks there will be cuts. Company is basically a sinking ship at this point. With Negative Cashflow to last till 2025; there is little hope for sustainment of smaller business lines.
November I heard is the month we may have some cuts
Yes people from Hutchinson are in Calgary now.
Lots of rumours about the 22nd. Can anyone confirm?
anyone knows /heard any number for the people already affected ? from which groups ?
Capital cuts announced earlier in the year, never had the associated permanent cuts due to unexpected need to respond to COVID. It would seem some cuts are required before the end of this year.
We do see they asked the gov for assistance. Overall if they can wait till year end, things might normalize. For tax payer in this country it is less than 5 dollars/month in taxes to re-allocate funds and keep this project alive. That's what Fed needs to do. Otherwise 500+ jobs are affected
Wouldn’t it make more sense for them to be participating in the West White Rose review and lobby???
You don’t need people from Hutchinson to do layoffs
