Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

Are more corporate layoffs looming?

I heard rumors about August??? It is hard to work and concentrate on business if you are afraid each week might be your last! After seeing how they have handled it in the past am dreading the future. I loved my job here until about a year ago :(

With the losses we're sustaining their is interest from a competitor for Buy Buy Baby. So we are currently entertaining all offers.

Buy Buy Baby is not for sale - worth too much / makes a lot of money for the company. Will end end up as Bed Bath & Beyond, Buy Buy Baby and Harmon. All others are up for sale.

Bed Bath is currently trying to sell Cost Plus World Market, Christmas Tree Shops, Harmon and Buy Buy Baby. The only one there is big interest right now by a pretty big competitor is Buy Buy Baby.

More layoffs are definitely coming. Our online sales numbers "look good" but that's because they're not counting all the returns and cancelled orders. Most cancelled orders are because of delays either with shipping or desperately trying to fill the order when we do not have the product in stock or in store.

I am reviewing all those returns and cancelled orders and if these numbers are accurate we are loosing money on our online sales not making money online.

We all know the BBB is trying to sell off parts and that people are being laid off. It's literally nothing new. This board has been talking about it for months.

SMH..the Mark T post is a troll..read it.mthere are several typos in it and no one in corporate would 1. Read this board. 2. Post on this board 3. Post with so many typos and grammatical errors. To the person who said that corporate reads this board and if you think otherwise "u dumb LOL" How old are you? 10? u dumb?

If you actually read the article George Washington, you'd notice that the post has more details then the article. The article just mentions closing call centers plus more layoffs. The Mark T post talks about trying to sell parts of BB&B and laying off specific departments in corporate.

Anyone can read an article and post what it said. And anyone can be troll.

The only truth is inventory is at its lowest and we are close to rebranding/repackaging inferior products. And we are not Amazon due to our over priced products, so this online focus with no returns is a sinking ship.

Won’t make it past Thanksgiving when sales start and profits vanish

Did anyone read that article that was posted below? It pretty much says the same thing that guy Mark T posted below. It's very eerie, I'm convinced what he posted has some truth behind it.

Damn, window guy still posting about window treatments. Let it go. It’s bed bath and beyond. Also, if you haven’t found a new job. That’s on you. Work is everywhere. Just gotta want to work. Getting let go was the best thing to ever happen to you. Now go find a real job. You will be happier.

I was let go a year ago. I loved working in my windows department. Kept it within the top ten in sales in the company week after week. Was let go for assisting customers. District manager said we don't do that anymore. Goodbye! Haven't found another job yet, the virus isn't helping eiither.

Do you really think anyone in corporate reads this board? Of course not..Do you really think they have the time to read this little board with only a couple dozen entries per week. That Mark.T post ..someone posted it as a joke..SMH that people would think it is real. Omg

To simply answer your question: YES!
Now go find yourself a better opportunity because there’s never going to be one at BBBY.

Here is a thought....get rid of the worthless rvp's like Fran and actually put someone in the position who can be a leader and not a tyrant. Just food for thought.

Did anyone notice the name on the second response: Mark T. Is it possible someone from corporate does read this blog? Rereading it a couple of times, it almost reads factual due to some of the details and the wording. If this information is factual, then thank you to "Mark T" for at least being honest and letting us know what may be coming.

By law Bed Bath &Beyond has to let the states know if they are laying off more than 500 people and we have given notice months in advance. And have filed paperwork in New Jersey, Florida and other states. Is it all corporate? It's a mix of corporate and retail stores. But we are shutting down all out big call centers in Florida and that will impact some corporate employees. Offshoring all the rest of the call centers by next year. We expect the corporate office to offshore alot of their digital duties to an agency we are currently rworking with. As well as offshoring most if not all the developers working on the website in NJ. In these Covid times we are struggling to keep the company afloat. We feel these are strategic moves will help save the company so we can survive during Covid. But we are in talks with other entities to buy portions of Bed Bath & Beyond. If any of those goes through then you can expect more layoffs.
