Hi there. What has happened to the visual departments? Have they been cut like Macys has done? Are associates and managers expected to change mannequins? Are windows being closed off? Thanks for any responses. I am a former visual stylist that worked in a store with 7 visuals and a visual manager. Just curious to see how they have been affected.

Yes. I guess it’s everywhere in the company. My mother always said call people as you see them. Call a spade a spade. My last team was filled with phonies. We’re more catty than creative!
My whole experience at Nordstrom was gossip put down club – must be a West Coast thing... that's what happens when they promote the cheerleader squad to management.
The visual department turned into a mean girls club. My old manager was from the west coast and referenced that. It became catty instead of creative. I was my my old visual manager’s profile on Linkened. She was let go June 2020. Honestly glad to be away from that toxic gossip put down environment that visual turned into!
Anyone else have any info on the visual departments at their stores? Anyone know if regional visuals were let go?
I am so sorry you guys were laid off. That is truly terrible . I wish you the best
Visual teams still exist - but headcount was reduced in some stores, I believe it was case by case based on store size. Some visual managers even have multiple stores they oversee now.
Visual is now completely responsible for all merchandising in store (running the truck) since department managers now have very large roles of responsibility. Visual still does display windows, interior installations, and event installations like Holiday - no change there.
Manager suddenly allying my Dept with a sheet of paper. They started layoffs before the pandemic. Irony though. The first case of the virus was Jan 15. I got fired on the 14 of jan
I was mysteriously let go after 15 years in January
