Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

My reason I am bitter about staples

I never post anything or read much into this site but I am very bitter with this company.
For almost 5 years I was a contractor, no complaints either and always performed my work @ 100% no matter what and never trash talked the company. But over the years I was promised a permanent position but as I said I didn’t care much bout it just long as I was getting a paycheck every week.
Now, here comes the pandemic. Boss told us all not to worry etc etc. I didn’t.. then things got worse, stores closing along with other retailers so I started getting nervous. Boss had another meeting when things got hot and assured us no planned layoffs. So I continue to work another month still busy as heck then I get the phone call.. I was furloughed until further noticed (first week of April) and I will provide you an update first week of May. Week passes, no call.. idc I’m getting paid so whatever. Finally get a call with my boss to check in we talked I said I wasn’t looking for jobs just waiting to comeback and he appreciated and gave me the impression I was coming back. Weeks go by into June now and I get a call from my agency saying good news staples is looking to bring u back soon. So I wait and wait and my Amgen ya isn’t looking for other assignments for me then the first week of July comes and I get a call from my boss saying my position is officially eliminated. So I text my other co worker contractor thanking and all that but never said he was let go. So I go in the office grab my sh–, boss had a completely different attitude with me just wanted me outta the place. That hurt cuz I respected him a lot and enjoyed working with him and just tossed me out like that without really letting me speak small talk or anything so then I find out they kept the other contractor instead. (He worked there previously for over 20 years then left came back as a contractor) so this got me beyond furious. So now they have 3 people left on that team only because of the “experience” which is b—s— cause all they did the whole time I was there was complain about every kind of work they had to do and loved dumping things on other people especially myself. I always worked, always took the work never complained or talked trash about the company or the other employees. My last year working there was hell, my co workers on my team created that high school atmosphere.. trash talking, criticizing everyone, Complaining. They trashed talked me into almost getting fired because I “asked too many questions” sorry I never done that assignment before u inconsiderate c–ts. So I got over it but didn’t talk to anyone for 3 weeks including my bosses unless I had to. I stuck it out for almost a year but told myself I don’t wanna be working here by July 4th 2020. So in the end the pandemic actually helped me out.. I got paid more loot to chill out for over 3 months and get my head straight and the whole time those 3 lazy pieces of trash were busting there a– and getting paid less. They always read this site and talk trash between each other and I can only imagine what there saying now. CP(CC),JV,RR you are all a bunch of little sissy school girls. Mind your own businesses and stop talking sh–. I told BM about how you 3 make fun of him, yea it’s funny making fun of someone with a mental disability. You also all have my contact info and if you all wanna discuss this with me feel free and I won’t hold back especially to you CP you f—in c–t. I am so glad I’m not with this company anymore. I still sometimes think of the opportunities I had during the off months but declined them.

Don’t be bitter it is just a job. Got laid off after over 15 years got my severance and already found a new gig in a growing industry. Spls has been on its way out for a long time. Be glad for your time and move on.

Glad you got this off your chest, but the other commentators are right - in the long run, you are better off. SP has done nothing for SPLS except ruin peoples' lives. SPLS is not unique - just go into an ODP/OX store and you will see it is the same experience and selling the same products Squarely in the sweet spot for Amazon.

I am better off. Staples s—s and I gotta new job and I never even did any job searching. My agency knows that staples did wrong here. As I posted, I enjoyed my 3 months off while being paid. If you were furloughed and you didn’t get paid well that’s your own fault. You either don’t file your taxes properly or file late every year or you’re partner makes enough money. I am a single individual who made less than 60k and properly filed all my taxes every year on time! I also follow all the protocols that the Massachusetts unemployment benefits insurance asks of everyone. My first week off I was paid right away along with the 600$. Do I feel bad for others that weren’t paid? No I don’t because of those reasons. Best advice.. do what the government asks of you cause that’s you’re responsibility as an American.

B-ng rips all day in the parking lot!

Revenge can be yours if you go for it. I did and it is so very sweet.

Who did you eliminate?!

Laid off after decades of service? Realize that you were just a number. Let go of the bitterness and go build your next narrative somewhere else. Don’t become mired in anger but use it to your advantage. Revenge can be yours if you go for it. I did and it is so very sweet.

Yes most of us did not get paid during the furlough. Bitter? YES! 15 years of loyal service working hard and going above and beyond then being told your position was eliminated. Then watching and listening to people on a daily basis bashing the company or their boss or their co-workers. Those Associates getting paid 6 figures but those people don’t lose their job! Bitter? YES! I wish the best to all that were affected by the lay-off.

i spent the last 5 months watching tv and working on my yard. hahaha. It was obvious after my 3rd week that Staples was doomed and I was being fed of lies. You need to become more critical and skeptical of people. Don't trust what they say, only what they do.
