Thread regarding Omnicare Inc. layoffs

August 2020 Layoffs at Omnicare

I can confirm that call, Omnicare is going to lay-off employees starting this week, some one has to be let go to pay for the 15.3 million dollars payed for the o—id Medicare billing lawsuit, see DEA dot gov May 13, 2020. Business is down and getting worse, no one is being tested for COVID-19 because they will have to close down and clean each facility with positive result of a employee, pharmacist have the ability to give the test and still no tests for employee’s.

Omnicare stopped paying attendance bonus instead of hazard pay to employee’s in June as the pandemic got even worse. To the District Manager that said “there are 3 kinds of employee’s, tigers that the company takes care of, elephants that do the job and donkeys who are replaceable.”. Your dehumanizing view is proof corporate is rotten to the core.

Still Letting folks go in East Coast CBC too. Omnicare billing center fired me right after great performance review. There is a severance thank goodness because I had zero warning I was going to be affected by this until just now. So like many others they’ve left me hanging during this deadly pandemic uncertain of how I am going to sustain my family. This has been the only company I have ever been fired from, and reason cited was a 40% decline in business. I don’t think that can all be blamed on COVID either. I keep seeing the company settling lawsuits, customer service complaints, rocky employee relations, and just a general lack of planning or organization. I am highly educated, lots of pharma experience, hitting my marks...not sure I understand how they arrived at me instead of others, but frankly glad this very dark experience in my life is now definitively over.

We know which former Central Florida employee is posting here. Why not use time wiser by looking for a real job? It was sad, you begging for money from friends to pay your bills and your $30 "wedding" when you could be actively job hunting. Now to mooch off hard working people for health insurance and handouts. Just STOP.

Funny thing about my Omnicare location is that those canned were 3 of the 8 white employees in the building.

So now that most of us have had time to digest these layoffs it is apparent that getting a "replacement job" is not going to be easy. COVID has caused many employers to go into hiring freezes because they are reducing hours as well. There is a lot of competition with 700 of us fighting over the same jobs. Having to make a 180 or 360 turn on what you used to good at to take a less comparable position is toxic to our souls. Most of us were salaried positions and worked plenty of extra hours not because we had to but because we were loyal to this company and only wanted to see it succeed. Now try and cover the areas you took away employees from. The buildings are opening up and who are you going to use and overuse to fulfill your contract obligations? Get ready to lose accounts because your customers deserve more than a phone call. Honestly I hope the companies we end up at market the heck out of your clients. In the end you get what you deserve. Highly educated and dedicated "now, ex employees" will be standing in unemployment lines after their severance runs out. Shame on you for ruining so many of our lives. No sweat off the excecs back, they get paid either way. Makes me sick to my stomach.

cvs profit first agenda has k–led a legitimately great job for me. protecting high level managers at all cost regardless of the defamation to an employees character. After too many years i'm glad to be out. Warning to those left. CVS always cuts cost prior to sale. you will be sold off

Omnicare... like the reviews you will find on indeed and Glassdoor, the people I worked with are by far the very best team members, friends and family it has been my honor serve patients to the best of my ability with. Management is listed as primary complaint by 1 out of three reviews, followed by understaffed and CVS trying to run wholesale like retail. In my search for a new Licensed Pharmacy Technician position, I found that my lack of training in any other position than staging has left me with a worthless piece of paper. Here’s what happened to me over 4+ years of service to Omnicare, abridged version.

3 month’s after my hiring
What would you do? A manager comes thru the staging doors looking for my manager and say’s good morning, after greetings, the manager who seems to be a kind person, concerned about my out of the ordinary frustrated demeanor asks “are you ok?”. I had just been subjected to my managers endless fat shaming of a colleague and myself by others who witnessed and joined in because my manager had the ability to do favors for those who he deemed on his side and cause major problems for those who are not. I told the kind and fair manager that I was dealing with racism, s-xism, fat shaming, p–nography and... the happiness fell from the managers face and she said “I hope it gets better for you” then she walked back out the door. The following week a general manager asked me to step outside to talk, after we walked down the loading ramp from staging. He said “I’ve always been a straight shooter, the manager that you spoke with last week reported to me and I will file the HR report, I will take care of it”. The GM walks away aggravated, back up the ramp, as I am trying to ask what report? He is hearing impaired and doesn’t seem to want to talk to me anymore. Several colleagues are watching this happen from the staging area and ask in unison what was that about? I don’t know the full story and they fill in the gaps about our managers long standing history of alcoholism and favoritisms shown to female colleagues he deems attractive and respond positively to his s-xual advances of harassment. I did not know that there was already an investigation going on into my managers use of lipstick models with s-xual provocative screensaver images and for showing off p–nography on phones by the manager and colleagues in his circle that see him as a role model and do as he does. The facility manager at the time is the same person that works for the legal department most likely responsible for handling my current situation. He takes me into the GM office for a conference call with HR, the GM is not able to make it. HR questioned me directly and only about colleagues I had seen or had been shown p–nography by. While looking at the expression on the facility manager face, I decided to say “those colleagues don’t work here anymore” and then HR said “ if you don’t testify, You could be fired”. I said “I didn’t even file this report to HR, go ahead.” The facility manager told HR this call is over. He presented the exit to me and told me to return to my station. From that day forward, I received no training of any kind and have systematically been crushed by several managers at the behest of my manager into doing more, for longer periods of time, by leaving me to do a three person job by myself. I was always on time, always completed my work with the team against all odd’s to get the medications to the patients.

5 months into the job
What would you do? You have been on the staging floor for almost 5 months, the manager comes to you and says “your taking the test for a pharmacy Technician license on Thursday”. You have had no training in any other part of the Pharmacy and haven’t been given any study guidelines. The manager says “There is a cheat sheet available”, my reply “no, I’m good”. After stumbling into the investigation of my manager a couple months earlier, several people came to me and said that my manager was talking serious trash about me saying that I am a bad person. I take the test after 36 hours of self guided study and wait for my results, the visibly angry manager comes thru the staging doors and glares at me saying “you passed”, my reply “Fantastic! What was my score?”. Manager “you passed”, me “seriously what was my score?”, Manager “YOU PASSED!”. Now, after over 4 years of retaliation by management, terminated in secret during a pandemic while on FMLA for being high risk and having PTSD... I still don’t know what my score was.

November 2019
A colleague finds that a bottle used by every one in that area for filling, has a pe–swith testicals drawn on it. The colleague takes the bottle right away to the manager as this is a clear sign of s-xual harassment. The manager proclaims loudly “I drew it, so what? Put it back”. The manager in question has already been reported several times for s-xual harassment in the work place to HR and management. The colleague blindly follows the instruction, the company shows the same privilege to management as the manager does to colleagues, they are granted special status and allowed to do as they please thru manipulation of schedules and actual hours worked. The colleague knows these things and more but he looks up to the manager as a role model.
A colleague finds the bottle on the next shift and has already heard the story from the other female staff that have had to either fight for equality or commit to the corporate way of s-xism in the work place. Seeking advice from other colleagues she decides to take the most courageous step that any employees takes. She’s young and smart, forward thinking, takes the extremely offensive bottle in question to another manager, they agree it should be passed to her manager for being s-xual harassment. The facility manager is distraught with anger over such childish behavior from a manager, legal paperwork had to be signed by everyone involved to protect the company from a s-xual harassment lawsuit, turning everyone involved into a victim. The colleague that had the courage to stand up to s-xual harassment should have been written a letter of commendation for being a excellent lead by example. Instead, another cover up to defend a long standing problematic manager that has no remorse for those he hurt along the way.

2 months after that event
A staff meeting was held to announce that a employee was released from service on the grounds of mental instability. I returned to my station in staging, my manager and a colleague come to me, makes solid eye contact, the manager says “ now we need to find the next crazy person to get rid of”, my response “go ahead, I’m Certified PTSD” this makes the manager and the colleague howl with laughter. I leave my station in shame and frustration.

There is a lot more to my story being filed with the EEOC, DOL, FDOH and OSHA the very best I can hope for is a settlement because cvs and omnicare both have major legal resources and I’m unemployed with a family to protect. Those of you that have been payed off in phase 1, there’s going to be a lot of anger and fear in your heart and mind... talk with others, you are not alone, you can get through this by using the same strength and it took to go to work everyday.

The healthcare industry will be the engine that drives the economy to recovery. Mask factories, machines and the life saving PPE’s that are needed now, will continue to expand in need for years into the future. More than 20 categories of jobs in the healthcare field are required to run a single hospital, creating a thousand plus jobs for each one. Supplies for hospitals, ATF’s, LTC’s and urgent care locations employ millions nation wide, along with delivery and redistribution of products to facilities. Healthcare will become a nation wide right to every person in need, equal rights for all must start with affordable mental and physical healthcare for everyone.

Do No Harm

This layoff has affected many great employees. There was no consideration or intent to keep the top notched colleagues who promoted Service 1st to the nursing home/assisted living residents and their families. They made their termination selections based on payroll grade slashing hundreds of positions with little or no regard for the amount of destruction they were causing.

Larry Merlo, CEO of CVS Health receives an annual salary of $21,939,100. There is no word that he'll be taking a cut in pay while the rest of us are left to find new sources of income during a national pandemic. I haven't been able to find out what Jim Love, President of Omnicare is worth but I'm sure he won't be missing any meals.

To add insult to injury, those of us who received our "pink slips" on Tuesday, were required to listen to two call in meetings where we heard they would be building the company and departments up to be bigger and better in the coming months.

Mid-March of this year i left work for a quarantine leave and I called CVS HR, FDOH and reported major safety issues related to COVID-19, followed by going all out for wearing masks in public and at work, on FB and Twitter at the same time. Constantly Volatile Stress Corporate rewrote quarantine and mask mandates. On May 1 2020 masks were mandated in the facility and I was terminated shortly there after while on FMLA for PTSD (on file with CVS-HR) and being high risk for COVID-19 to be fatal if contracted. On May 12 2020, With no mitigation or contact by management, HR or leave of absence, my termination was finalized by a Omnicare manager.
Final reason for termination: May 28 2020, failure to provide FMLA paper work (for being high risk) while on a city and county lock down during a pandemic.
I found out about my termination, June 20th 2020 when I received my pharmacy technician license with a blank piece of paper in the mail and called CVS-HR, they took my HSA account and then gave it back... I’m guessing this is the severance package.

There is a ridiculous, bloated amount of middle management. 6,000 managers with fancy titles, 6-figure salaries, and they do basically nothing.

But let’s get rid of all the folks on the front lines. Typical corporate BS.

Has anyone affected been offered a severance package?

The Worker Adjustment and Training Notification Act may require employers to provide severance pay to all terminated employees unless the company gives them at least 60 days of notice before layoffs occur. The WARN Act may apply to organizations that employ more than 100 people that are terminating a significant part of their staff.

I work for the omnicare in Peoria floor technician. Our hours are over and were looking bad. None of our staff has been laid off or hours cut yet. I understand how covid has been a bit damaging to longterm healthcare but this is wrong. How with all these let's be honest dangerous budget cuts are we still hurting so bad?! How do we not deserve hazard pay?! They had me enter a facility covid positive without telling me! The administrator gave me a used poncho for ppe. When if I was told I could have brought my own. It's all about big business. We are replaceable they wouldn't care if we died. Listen to these stories throwing mothers out on their feet. I have 3 kids and have no idea what I would do if I lost this job. I get paid sh– and unfortunately that's the best pay I can find. Another this why is this not widespread news. This is destroying families and putting me and all the girls I work with in fear. What's next? How much abuse is it we have to take before we snap. I work 40 hours a week to support a family I bearly get to spend time with. F— omnicare. Sorry. Oh best part my gm also explained to me about how painful is vasectomy was and how he had to apply peas to his "crotch" after my hr call. God bless America! 😅😅😅😅

To put into comparison the distinctive lack of humanity and empathy CVS Health implores, let us take a look at two different CVS Health timelines. Here, we will compare how long it took CVS Health to address their "rollover" script lawsuit in which they are being sued by the United States government in 30+ states. Let us see what took longer, for CVS Health to address their fraudulent practices where they serve as the largest illegal d–g dealer in the entire world, giving away d–gs for 8 years with no pr-scrip-ions, or if it took them longer to fire their staff during the worst pandemic and economic recession any of them will have ever lived through.

In April 2015 per the Justice.gov document for fraudulently billing elderly and disabled residents without valid pr-scrip-ions, both "senior OMNICARE and CVS management knew that pharmacies were routinely dispensing d–gs without valid pr-scrip-ions." This problem was acknolwege in an internal e-mail in April 2015.

CVS Health did not begin to investigate this issue until the whistleblower case had already begun its investigation. So, for 3 years, CVS Health knowingly defrauded the most vulnerable population of Americans in the country, the elderly and the disabled, and they knowingly continued to fill pr-scrip-ions illegally and bill state-funded insurance programs all the way until 2018.

That is timeline #1. It takes a whistleblower investigation and 3 years for CVS Health to decide their elderly and disabled patients don't deserve to die from healthcare malpractice.

Here is timeline #2.

The beginning of April 2020 is when CVS Health sent out detailed information for how stores should handle COVID-19. It has been four months since then, and CVS Health has already made their decision to decimate their staff in the name of profits. To put that into perspective, it takes CVS Health four months to fire their dedicated staff, but it takes them 3 years and an internal investigation to decide it is time to stop jeopardizing the health of tens of thousands of the most vulnerable Americans.

That seems awfully inhumane doesn't it?

I’m on the East Coast. We lost ~30% of our team this week. 2 full-timers (1 just had her 2nd child and was on leave when they canned her). I’m not making that up. Other guy has now been canned TWICE by the same company. CVS thought they knew everything when they tried to sink their teeth into LTC. It’s been a total F’ing failure.

CVS is rotten to the core. Larry Merlo, Jim Love....all of em.

It. Is. Rotten. To. The. Core.

Only found one article by McKnight about the layoffs. The article sums it up thousands and thousands of lost beds because they never cared about the customer the executives only cared about their own personal gain. Countless calls that only spoke to what they wanted and not what the customer wanted. I’ve heard from a few people that got laid off that I had a lot of respect for but they were for the customer and not the Senior leaderships personal gain so they had to go.

The funny thing is, it is the donkeys that do all the work. The “tigers” and “elephants” are protected by the very upper echelon that bring in the bonuses and high salaries. There are so many levels of “fat” in upper middle management to the top that should account for at least 30-60 million . These people did basically nothing during the pandemic and got a full paycheck yet the everyday workers at the bottom kept working.

Over 35 years and I'm a donkey I guess. What is even more pathetic is not even a thank you for all of our years of service on the CEO call today. Something very odd is going on with how the cuts affected a certain portion of the US. I was always loyal and enjoyed my work. Hope I can get a similar position with another LTC pharm.

There's not a peep about it online except here. No one cares and it's frustrating! They let go more than 30% of the account managers on my team! How are we going to make that up and still take care of our facilities? Were going to have 100+ accounts unless they have some magic in their pockets? Oh wait, that's just money.
