Thread regarding Apache Corp. layoffs

If Apache wants to keep people after the Oil price improves...

I think a permanent work from home program would go a LONG way.

Those who want to go to the office can, but I already never want to put on stiff dress clothes to drive in bumper-to-bumper Houston traffic ever again.

Yes, to the monitors/hardware vs. productivity, you’re so right. And so ironic they laid off so many people and they have those monitors just depreciating and collecting dust somewhere. Basically becoming IT trash.

401k match will be gone by end of the year, it's true. Look around, several of the failed leadership who created the mess have already left. Or they are waiting for a payout before the bankruptcy filing. Who thinks it's a Chapter 11 by end of the year? Get out while you can.

Anyone still there isn't going anywhere. If you've stuck around this long you probably have an out of date skill set needed to get another job or have no motivation left to search for one. People who've stuck through all the bs they've been dealt will continue to take as much as Apache hands them.

They are going to cancel the 401k match because it's not material for the executives. They've already made enough money to retire 10x over. If you're an employee that thinks that they care about you then you're stupid and should look for another job.

Is this 401k rumor valid or just something to stir panic?

I don't ever want to see the inside of an Apache office space again. There's only so much brown nosing, back stabbing and executive team smoke blowing I can take. This company and it's leadership is fundamentally broken. BROKEN. There's some good people here it's just a shame they're over shadowed by our greedy executives.

401K company matches halted? The global re-org, market collapse and COVID weren't enough let's slap our most "valuable assets" in the face because the $300 million (twice the projected Project Descend goal) we're now saving isn't adequate.

Once this market opens back up I'm gone.

Oh man if they actually pull the 401K match on Nov 1 I'm going to lose my marbles. It's one of the very few bright spots that Apache has left.

Apache is lucky to be in business. It won’t be for much longer. Go in, get your stuff, and find another job.

1) First of all, it is 100% bs that our IT department has not allowed people to take their monitors and other equipment home so they can have an appropriate work setup. So, to protect $1000 (generously) of equipment, we’ve wasted 5-10 times (probably more) that in lost staff productivity because people are stuck working on one small a laptop screen. Slow clap. Congrats guys. You’re not very great.

2) Is oil coming back and people will have employee power in this industry ever again and be able to walk from bad employers? I don’t know?

3) I’d like to have an office environment again, I don’t feel like I can do all my work remote forever and be isolated from colleagues. A mix of WFH and in office would be nice. But, I only want to be able to wear fat pants from now on.

2x a week would be nice. But doubt it. Don't have high expectations for the future.

Yeah 401k match + retirement cut would be some juicy savings.

Yeah lets have the most unproductive, inefficient oil company in the Fortune 500 work from home on small screens with no oversight or management influence. oh wait, they never had any valuable manager influence
