Thread regarding Hy-Vee layoffs

This is what gets me...

I’ve been with this company for almost 15 years and it has very seldom disappointed me. However, this last year has completely changed that. I’ve seen good, hardworking coworkers being laid off, and extra work loads assigned during the aftermath with no thought of compensation. Morale has suffered as a result and it has changed the work environment for the worse. I could go on but what’s the point? I know some won’t like what I have written but I don’t care. I’ve had enough of this company and am in the midst of finding other employment within the same market.

I worked 18 years for Hy-Vee ate, slept and breathed the Hy-Vee way sacrificed time with my family and gave to a company that took care of me cause I took care and protected it. I held positions from asst Director to dept head. I wasn’t let go I saw the writing on the wall made a move seven months ago in the middle of the lay offs and COVID for my family and my sanity people were completely floored by my decision to leave but I couldn’t stay and watch what so many great people build come tumbling down in a 90 day period I remember after I put my two weeks notice in I sat and cried because I had to leave a place I loved that had been a part of my soul a place I was so proud of Being a part of I had so many people that were mentors and people that I looked up to people who genuinely would give you the shirt off their backs because they were Hy Vee people I left behind so many friends that I had more than relationships with they were truly my brothers and sisters. Fortunately I found a job working for a company that has been in business for over 100 years they have the same principals as the old hy Vee way of taking care of the customer at all cost and taking care of the employees who take care of the business god bless everyone and pray for our brothers and sisters risking their life’s at the stores may the good lord keep them all safe.

It’s pretty bad when Wal-Mart just finished a restructure and pay protected everyone for a year to give them time to find a new position. Never thought they would treat employees better than Hy-Vee, but here we are.
In fact from what I’ve heard from an ex-HV employee who got scooped up by Wal-Mart, they treat their employees quite a bit better in many ways.

You are not alone... prayers as you work to move on. There are much better places out there.

The old HyVee is gone and all that was good about it and to be proud of. My family members have now moved on after being treated so disrespectfully and they aren’t looking back. They have worked hard to let the experience make them better instead of bitter. They have successfully landed on their feet and so will you. It seems that no one can change what is happening because it’s a downward spiral.

You have all put your best efforts into working hard for many, many years. Just remember that the best revenge is living well. All of the rest will take care of itself in due time.
