Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Giving a bonus with one hand and swiftly cutting hours with the other

WTF is up this strategy of running the store? We're barely having coverage of the store and customers aren't stopping. 300 dollars means nothing when I'm covering lumber, millwork and hardware.

No. Lowes does not care about YOU. They cut hours last week for quarter end close financials for SHAREHOLDERS. They cut hours this week due to expected low sales volume because of the election.

I am grateful for the bonuses for COVID. Even if they are for publicity.

It’s all a publicity show!!!
Put on a show to the public of how wonderful Lowe’s is to their employees. Then take it all back behind the scenes.

Smoke & Mirrors.

In truth they probably hire 20,000 millennials a week. They last about that long and never come back. Lowe’s pays less than Target up the street.

Same at my store, plus for every new hire, it seems another newbie or experienced person quits.

Makes no rational sense. Open recs galore yet slashing hours at same time. News stories being published on 10/30/20 states that Lowe's plans on hiring an additional 20,000 workers for the holiday season and claims to have hired 155,000 workers throughout the pandemic. I think almost everyone at the store level would love to see a breakdown of where those 155,000 new employees were placed and how many former employees were lost during the same period.

Get use to it! Do the work of 3-5 guys for one wage to make up for that $300. I’m leaving the store I work in is a joke no one knows how to run a department. High turnover in my department. Lowes does not care about you at all.
