Well that is better than laying off actual people. I would much rather they have to cancel an open requisition than lay off headcount. Sure we need the help but now is not the time to be laying off actual people.
They are not hiring, they are protecting themselves.
SS teams are asking for hire approvals but delaying the recruitment per se.
So when the time comes to get rid of people that can get rid of their hire approvals instead of getting rid of the existing persons.
Every department is hiring right now. Why would they hire people to then turn around and have layoffs in a month or 2? My department just hired a few people and has been approved to hire another in a couple months.
I heard they said everyone in SS wil be impacted. A lot of short staffed team are begging for resources right now and are basically told to put their request on hold...Meanwhile the company has never been that profitable.
Geez I sure hope not given how 2020 has gone! For the sake of those who were not laid off to-date who are working their tails off (and for those who were furloughed and valuable enough to be brought back), this company better not continue to ruin their lives and their families lives; at least until there is a vaccine that most have taken and the job market has returned. Business has returned somewhat, dont just start laying off people AGAIN!
So we are doing well and the expectation for next year is an increase in business and the solution is we are going to layoff people? Something doesn’t smell right.....
Who is shared services is going to be laid off?
