Is the bonus enough to make up for no merit increases or does it just add insult to injury?

"B&W", Shape staff did not get merit increases in the promotion cycle in 2020. Not sure where your information is coming from, but it's incorrect. Some teams did receive increases in pay from what they were getting paid at Shape compared to the same role at F5, but it was a one time adjustment at the time of acquisition and not merit based.
the new folks from volterra and shape do get merit. the executive also got merit . its good to be the king

You should be glad you got bonus instead of being thrown away. Do you read the news, dude? "Do you know what a haza is?"
Having worked in IT for over 25 years, a 1% bonus (from what I've been told) is nothing for a company like F5 that consistently boasts its earnings. I would never feel secure working for F5.
For me personally, it's more than I expected for this year.
