Thread regarding Lenovo layoffs

If you get a chance, leave lenovo the first chance you get

Try finding a new job as soon as you can. Layoffs will come again in May 2021 and no one is safe no matter what position you are at. If you think your name will never be called, think again. Layoffs are a tradition at Lenovo.

Leave while you can. It is that much harder when you are laid off and desperate. So many better places to work than Lenovo.

We were told Wed before Thanksgiving that layoffs were in the horizon. What a great way to start the holiday! And they will never cut the incompetent leadership that should have been cut ages ago. May the odds be ever in our favor!

No doubt more DCG layoffs coming. I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens before the end of FY21 In March. Hell the sales teams haven’t even gotten quotas yet and no reporting to show attainment as we enter the 3rd month in Q3. WTF is our leadership doing??? Get rid of the highly paid marketing and fluff positions that don’t have a quota attached to them. Get rid of the excess support & services people that are dead weight. And tell the guy with the long hair and British accent that we can see through his BS and he’s a lousy leader. Dust off your resumes folks.

DCG is going to be a low end China BU soon. All US DCG employees will be gone in short order. I am glad I was laid off. It opened my eyes and allowed me to find a career where I can retire comfortably, am respected as a professional, and real goals that are achievable. If I remained at Cisco, I would have been on the 6 month roulette wheel with an extra spot every time. It is not healthy physically, mentally, and emotionally.

If you want to know how bad it is to be there, look at the Exec that died in his office there. His death was because of the environment of DCG. He paid with his life and that can be you too. It is not worth it. What is important is your health and family. Until you put them ahead of Lenovo, you don't know how bad off you really are.

Many if not most people laid off in the past were rated high, had retention incentives and were getting raises. None of that made any difference as DCG was losing money. Why would that make any difference in a similar environment?

The rumor is “YY told Kirk everybody WILL get bonus this year or else”. The moral is at all time low. There are secret unannounced promotions, secret retention plans, secret rises, and other measures to keep people from leaving. There is a reason DCG didn’t announce business results objectives for employee KPIs...

I was expecting more layoffs this year to be honest.
DCG losing money every quarter, but looks like a bonus could be on the table again, which is crazy.
