The latest rumor to make its way through the grapevine is that the FTTH project will resume in the new year. The catch is that all of the work will be completed by contractors. I don’t know why they would invest anymore money into this garbage system that doesn’t work as it is. But this is their supposed plan. Should this be true, it would make sense considering the amount of field service and OSP techs they laid off. Not to mention the construction department is basically non existent. There isn’t enough in-house man power to support the unrealistic demands of the project. Given the steady increase in contractor labor these days, I would not be surprised if this ended up being true.

Anyone notice the corollation between subs on fiber and the closed deal for the fiber network?HFC is next...
Hopefully they keep using that cheap non armored fiber. You know the one slathered in soy and peanut oil.I'll replace rodent chews all day.
Why wouldnt they use contractor labor?Gotta keep showing that insane profit to the shareholders. If history is any indicator, they will sub out all of our jobs.Just a fact based on the past history elsewhere.Keep youre nose clean, youre head down and make that revenue.Weve all seen what happens to those that dont.Covids flaring back up,and we all know what that means.I gotta family to support and the specifics are inconsequential at this point.Stay safe, and carry on my brothers and sisters.
don't worry, the union will save you
Pack it up contractors taking over everything!!!

Layoffs when ? And where ? What department? They are always chopping at the bottom . No news break there ...!!

I assume it’s still going on . I see contractors pulling fiber all the time on the east end of LI.
