Thread regarding Pratt and Whitney layoffs

I don’t know how to feel

Woke up this morning, had my cup of coffee and thought about the company that laid me off after working there so many years. I still don’t know how to feel. Should I be angry because I was let go? Or should I be relieved that I can finally breathe a sigh of relief? We’ve all been waiting for it to happen, and now that it actually happened to me - I have to admit it hasn’t hit me the way I thought it would.

I was laid off after 36 years with Pratt Canada. I couldn't have been happier. The working from home was starting to be difficult for me because I missed the in person collaboration on the design work I was used to doing. The severance pay should continue until just 6 months before my 65th birthday so the the timing was near perfect. It still does sting a little that I was the one person from my department that was picked.

I was laid off from Hamilton in 2009 after 11 years. It really hurt lot, but now I am happy. The grass is greener on the other side of the fence,

I too was laid off back in October after 4 decades. Was very p-ss-d off at first, but now that the dust has started to settle, they did me a favor. No more BS from incompetent managers, no more c-appy meetings that did nothing but waste time. Mostly though, no more listening to the cry babies that don’t know what they truely have.

Exactly. The layoff itself doesn't piss me off. It's how they waited until right before the holidays (when other companies have virtually stopped hiring) to finally do what was inevitably going to happen.
