Have you seen the news that Home Depot intends to make pay increases for hourly workers permanent as their sales surge?

The heavy activity has, however, also led Home Depot to spend $1.7 billion in temporary pay and benefits for staff working through the health crisis. The company said on Tuesday it will change some of those benefits to permanent wage increases for frontline hourly employees.

I never fully trust media headlines and I always take them with a grain of salt, but now I feel like applying for a job there.

Lowes always copies the bad ideas never the good

Home Depot’s pay rates are way lower than lowes to start, at least this used to be the case. I do not think lowes will pay more.

Doubtful lowes will copy HD because Lowes is playing a different angle. Hire as many as lowes can with sting hopes that they quit just as fast. So lowes can get a big tax right off during this pandemic. So lowes will make your hours as flexible as they can for full time and mess with the part timers hours and days off.

I don’t think Lowe’s will copy the pay raises; Marvin like his money too much.

I don’t like the direction Lowe’s Corp has been heading with respect to Store Associates, but a lot of its a decent place to work has to do with your local SM and how they run the store. My ASM was let go and it was clear he was protecting us from SM, so what was a decent place to work became a nightmare. Check out the HD you want to go to.
