I laugh at Lenovo. I was laid off last year and it was the best thing ever. No longer a slave, no longer living in fear (my mistake to begin with). It was revitalizing after seeing all the opportunities at places I interviewed. I had my choice of jobs and settled on one that had the least amount of stress. Salary was about 15% less, but the benefits are immensely better. Cost of health insurance is 25% of what it was at Lenovo. Out of pocket medical and dental expenses are about 33% of the price. I get a pension, same 401k match, realistic goals and expectations. Vacation and sick leave could be a little better, but not needed nearly as much because it is enjoyable to go to work where I am at.
People still ask if they were getting a computer which should I buy. It is always Dell, HP, Asus, and at the bottom right below Apple is Lenovo. They ask why I tell them I lived through the ship show. I always advise people that are still there to do as little as possible, do not on any circumstance give up family time for them (my biggest regret), and always search for a job so you can just walk out. Tell your boss you are going on 2 weeks emergency vacation. At the end of it tell them you quit.
